Thats great info there, Mebsuta. I have heard of those 400 motors really producing alot of power with lower C/R. I have a 400 block .035 OS, and a 3.75" stroke. AKA a 451. Boy does that thing run strong! Not sure why the 400s work so well, but they do. I am tempted to build one some day, as I have a couple builder 400 motors. And I am running the Holley Street Dominator intake talked about in the article you referenced. Works great! In an intake manifold comparison it was only down by 3 horse power next to the best single plane tested. But the dual quad tunnel ram worked best.

Cranking PSI aint a real good indicator. What does cylinder pressure do with RPM? It goes up. Also too, there's no telling about te cylinder pressure curve, because once again, smarts parts choices might just make an 8.1 engine possibly more powerful than a 10.1 engine. If that 10.1 engine is not thought out well, it has more to leave on the table.
