Can a valley pan gasket if bad give an intermittent ticking sound from the heat crossover?

It’s not an exhaust leak, the noise is definitely coming from the intake and head area where the heat crossover is located.
This is on a bone stock 400 with 48k original miles.

I suppose it could, anything is possible. Take the intake off and look around, it's easy enough on a BB. Unless it has A/C then it's a bit more to do

One time on a 78 360 I took the intake off and sitting in the intake port near the head was a screw in fitting from the floor of the plenum for the EGR. Something like that could be rattling around.

yes......unplug the plug wire on the cylinder it's connected to and see if it goes away

had this happen on an AMC, sounds just like an actual header leak

Disconnected #6 and the tic stopped. Thank you for the recommendation.
Now the next dilemma block off the crossover or dont block it off

See you’re from NY. I’m in PA. I only drive my car seasonally. You can get valley pans with or without open crossover. Depends on your driving habits what would work best for you. Good luck.
