Car Show annoyance

You continued to do business with these people ?????

Slim jim my car??? OH HELL NO!

Yeah someone would have a bat/golf club upside their head or a .45acp pointed at it {if someone was doing that to my car, with-out my permission}, all while the cops are called & coming, freaken' POS scumbags, would/should be in jail..... I also wouldn't have sold them any parts... or made them so damn expensive I would feel good about shafting the arrogant a--holes...

I've never really been to many car shows but I do like a good confrontation, after reading all of these posts it's amazing what some peoples kids will do. I'm looking forward to getting the Net done and heading on out!

I've owned my GTX 34 years now and only had it at one car show and that was only because a friend of mine's club was sponsoring the show (got 3rd place trophy), I cant see myself hanging around all day at a show, once I've seen all the cars and talked to a few people I'm done.
I do go to a few local cruise nights with my buds that take their cars too and have a good time, but I've heard allot of strange comments over the years for sure.
It's amazing that people just blurt out stupid comments about things they obviously know nothing about.
I have my old cars for one reason, that's to drive them.

I've never really been a car show type guy, sitting or walking around all day, looking at Mustangs & Camaro's all over the place... I've always been the racer @ heart, I get bored very easily at car shows... But I've mellowed "slightly", in recent years & I do enjoy seeing others handy work, get some great ideas sometime, from it... As long as they aren't the A-Typical "serial show goers", the guys who's at every show & knows everybody, critiques everyone else's car, with the my chit don't stink attitude... But when I do rarely go, I'm still not very tolerant of the dumb asses, usually the ones that don't even have a car or with someone that does, the wannabe's/poser crowds, self proclaimed know it all's, that frequent most car show... Or the total **** purists, really get under my skin, that have nothing better to do, than to always say something about what's wrong or not year correct or some smart *** snide remark about a Vin or Fender Tag #'s, especially on a quality build, regardless of the make of car... at-least in the past, I'm trying to relax more... We'll see how it goes, I highly doubt I will ever actually show my car, unless it's a small or private type show or group get together... I would like to do some cruises in the future again, I use to really enjoy that, but I was also much younger too...LOL... I'll try to see if I can spectate 1st, maybe meet some of our great, friendly fun knowledgeable, FBBO members hopefully, that will help to make it worth it, maybe...LOL... I'm the type of car builder/enthusiast, who doesn't give a rats ***, whether someone likes my car or not, as long as I like it, it's making progress or running well, that's all that really counts, in my small little world, anyway... But also, It's nice to see some kids & younger builders, that are respectful & getting into the Hobby too, willing to learn & listen... So I'm kind of torn, I want to see the classic cars & especially the resto-mod day 2 type muscle cars, even the survivor or restored cars do well & thrive, so I will support the hobby, even if it's not really my thing & be respectful of others builds... I always like to see the cars in various completed & still building/in progress states too... Many times you don't ever see what hidden & some of the work is just too phenomenal to hide.... I do really enjoy all the photos/car **** posted here from & reading about the shows on here & other sites, it's kind of "the best of both worlds", I get to see some really nice cars & not deal with the other issues, actually @ the show................ my $0.02 cents, for what it's worth he he ha ha

Love it when you tell people you'd only let your car go for a outrageous amount and they offer you 5 grand for a car Well worth 8-10.

My 1973 charger landed in my lap. For a really really really cheap price I boought a running and driving car with a nice paint job and a few rust spots due to bondo.

People go: Nice car, but look at that rust. Showing off their $80,000 brand new BMW their mommies bought them. They don't understand what my car would look like, if I put the same amount of money they bought their car for, into mine.

Jokes on them. My $3,000 "Rust bucket" :headbang: will leave their $80,000 performance car in the dust

I've sold and traded cars at car shows before. Almost everyone at a car show is a potential tire kicker, but at least they aren't at my house. If someone shows a real interest in my car and they aren't complete a**holes, I will let them know that the car might be for sale at the right price. Saves a lot of time and money for me not having to advertise or take the car to an auction. I don't put for sale signs on cars. If someone is really interested in the car, they will ask about it and word will get around. It works for me.

See after all this I now realize why my dad Never went to shows he didn't like people nit picking HIS car ....its his its the way he liked it and the way he left it to me so that's the way its staying

There's a guy I won't name that's always parked at the local Friday night cruise-in's around here, and has his chevy done all pro-street; caged, tubbed, nos tank where the back seat should be, wide slicks, blower through the hood, custom wing on the back, the whole nine. It looks impressive so everyone thinks, based on looks, that it automatically is impressive. Except the nitrous isn't hooked up "just for show," it runs like crap because he slapped a blower on a high compression motor, and it's never even run a quarter mile... "just for cruising" :head_smack:

I understand "to each, his own" and whatever puts a smile on his face is fine by me, but the guy comes off kinda cocky and I'm not a huge believer in "Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements"
I love intimidating these clowns. Mines not for show. Slicks are in the trunk.

Slim jim my car??? OH HELL NO!

I over-charged a shitload. I sold a 4 door rear seat to him for $350, and a broken grille emblem for $50. I needed a reason for them to stick around as I was waiting for my friends to show up haha.

I like it when they look under the hood and say the wrong cubic inch size. Like I had some come up to my coronet and say, "WoW, those 460 are good motors. I would usually say, a 440 is better.

I've never really been a car show type guy, sitting or walking around all day, looking at Mustangs & Camaro's all over the place... ..................

I hear you on that Budnicks. I always wanted to have a car worthy of being looked at in a car show. My Roadrunner didn't even get a glance back in '87 at shows. The GTX was my turning point. I decided I wanted something nice enough to put in a 3-day show that we run out here, and get a few stares at least. Well, been there done that ...now. Three consecutive shows (6 years) later with "Best Paint" and I am done with shows. Now people rate their paint jobs using my name - I know several people who asked my painter to do their car...."I want a nice job, but I don't need a Roger _____ job"
Nowadays people love to look at my car to see what faults they can find on it.

As Doc Hudson in the CARS movie said "all I see is a bunch of empty cups" ....my garage is full of trophies that mean nothing to anyone except me. My boys love telling their mates that Dad has a bunch of "Piston Cups". My wife points out that Trophies don't pay bills :toothy10:

Car shows really are an acquired taste.

Rust builds character.

I don't do shows, even when I've had done cars, nor as a spectator. If there are cars at a swap meet, I will gladly glance. However, if there's a 68 charger, I check the VIN. Always waiting to see one I sold.
