Jeez! Do they still make Schlitz? Have not seen any in years!

At Sonny's local food store they make home made Bratwurst (usually grilled or pan fried, and sometimes cooked in broth or beer bath later)
so, on Saturday they have a Brat & Beer tasting at the store...it is awesome!:VB toast:

I like Leinenkugel,Honey Weiss
Sunset Wheat
Berry Weiss
Hoppin' Helles
Red Lager
Creamy Dark:icon_sunny:
Original

BUT no Summer Shandy, yukk! , lemonade should Never be in beer!:thebirdman:/

We always wondered who would name a beer that would have the same sound as the product leaving your body . . .

In goes the Schlitz . . . out comes the Schlitz . . . ( sigh )

They still make Black Label? We used to use it for parts cleaner back in Michigan. :poke:
Instead of Mable, bring me a black label---it was " Mable, get off the table--the $2 is for the beer!!"................................MO

I have one of these too

Around here, PBR has gotten pretty popular so stores started jacking the price. Only thing to do was have some buddies over for a cheap beer tasting.

Contestants:

PBR
Peils
Bush
Red Dog
High life
Genesee cream ale
Tecate

Piels won hands down. PBR was middle of the pack, so it's out until prices come down.

Bush won honorable mention.

What was the criteria for the win? best or worst tasking of the cheap beers?

The criteria was pretty open. Had to be about $5 or under for a 6, and you had to be willing to drink it in public.

I like Upper Canada Lager. My brother usually brings a few cases of Yuengling back when he goes to the US

Me and the boys love yuengling, Lord Chesterfield Ale and their Porter are pure value.

Nothing worse than a cheap bitter beer, I'll spend the extra buck & get a decent beer, that doesn't tastes allot the can it comes in, thank you... my$0.02 cents never been a Pabst guy ever...

Only bottles, or on tap, never in a can either !!

How about aluminum bottles with a glass lining?

How about aluminum bottles with a glass lining?

Aluminum Bottle is "No-doubt" probably from a cheaper brand, that I wouldn't drink anyway... Quality beers come in Glass Bottles, usually Dark Brown or Dark Green glass too, no exceptions... I don't drink enough to warrant having to save a bunch of money on beer, so it's not an issue with price with me, it's taste & alcohol content, not price what I buy beer for... That's just me, been drinking "Arrogant Bastard & Kilt Lifter" {my aunt & uncle buy them for me doing their driveway every month}, my mainstay is Samuel Adams almost any flavor, when I actually do drink... I like a variety, not the same thing always... I don't really drink much anymore, ol'Pops had to quit cold turkey & I don't want to really drink in-front of a obsessive compulsive alky {50-60+ years pretty much a regular drunk 24-32 oz.'s "a day/evening" of rot gut Whiskey, until his heart attack}, that's trying to quit for health reasons & Dr.'s orders... I was really a Jack & Coke guy, a Ceurvo & a beer Chaser, when I really wanted to drink, but also a straight up Makers Mark or Nobb Creek "Whiskey" drinker, when I wanted to get buzzed, just cut to the chase, instead of running to the bathroom after each cheap beer...LOL..

Hey Bud, Ever try this?

Hey bud, me and the boys held a cheap bourbon tasting before the holidays. Tested only true bourbons. Had to be $15 a bottle or less (750ml). Most agreed Old Grand Dad was the winner followed by Rebel Yell and then Evan Williams. Grand dad and Rebel Yell are both pretty high in rye content, so do a nice job of bringing Knob Creek to mind. In fact, next we're having a blind bourbon tasting, and I bet we won't be able to tell Knob Creek from the lower priced high rye's.

We had Buffalo Trace on hand, another well priced favorite at about $25 a bottle. Rebel and Grand dad were very similar, just lacked a bit in depth, but had no harshness or rot gut quality at all.

ol'Pops us to drink Early Times for years latter switched to Evan Williams buying a dozen or more 1.75 mil/ltrs a month, was way better, but I didn't really care for either, even with Coke as a mixer... Just rot gut to me...
I use to drink Kessler's & Coke it tasted like Dr. Pepper kind of, what can I say, I was young & dumb... it was cheap blended crap !!

Yea in a bottle in the seasonal variety 12 packs... Not a bad beer for a seasonal beer, not my everyday type beer, Boston Lager easy to find, or Cream Stout is my favorite really, but hard to find around here thou....

You got it all wrong! Were talking cheap here right? This was Dad's staple and us kids when we ran out. Talk about scrapping the bottom of the barrel! View attachment 178122
I get a headache just thinking about our late night night caps with that stuff and pans of Spaghetti and Mushroom Soup falling out the window. If anyone has to ask then you have never been there!!!!
