Coolant leak

I have a 440 that was rebuilt and never started. Finally got it in car and put fluids in it and nothing leaked. Next I Lowered engine a little bc it was 100% set it car. And as soon as I did I heard coolant go towards back of block and it leaked a little out the back passenger side header area. Can’t tell if it’s from gasket or head. Is it bc I tilted it to far back? I should put sealant around gasket or tighten it a little more to seal it? Or move forward with breaking in cam or atleast starting it and see what happens?

I think you should find the leak before starting it. Can you get ahold of a pressure tester?

I wouldn’t start it, someone here will give you correct advice. You live in a nice place. Visited friends there and in Skiatook that have early Chargers.

Have you got the exhaust manifold/header bolts in place?? Front and rear on each head go into the coolant passages and need sealant on the threads...

Engines don’t heal. If you don’t fix the leak it won’t get fixed, simple as that.

I think that might be it bc I didn’t put sealant on those threads. I just screwed them in.

I might be late on advice but it should be the threads don’t have thread sealant. I just watched a good channel on YouTube by just mopar joe. Episode called starting it up! 72 Roadrunner part 3. Put Rtv on header bolts to prevent leaks.

I'm about 20 miles away and have a pressure tester. Message me if you want to use it. Always best to "know" where the leaks are

Back out those bolts and put a good high temp sealant on them, use new (preferably metal) gaskets then torque to 35 ft. lbs. Good to go! Remember to tighten center bolts first then outer ones.
