Custom rear exhaust exit ideas??

You could run them out the bottom of the rear quarters behind the tires in a body panel flush set of exits shaped however you like.

I'd like to do that in front of the rear tires but the leafs are in the way, not sure I'd like it behind the tires?

If you're gonna do stacks, they HAVE to come up through the hood! Another option might be 1960's style NASCAR side exhaust where it comes out through the rocker panels just ahead of the rear wheel openings...

I really like the Nascar look but like I mentioned, leafs are in the way.

I had a similar idea. My trunk and quarters are completely apart, and even with leaves mounted in the factory position, there would be enough room to run a 3" oval tube over the rear part of the leaf, and then through the trunk extension for a through-quarter exhaust. It's tight, though.

Cutting a hole on that paint would be quite a commitment.

**cough 4 link cough**

Yeap, that's on the list but doubt it will be this Winter. Even with a 4 link the bottom link ends up where the leaf is now so still a problem. Actually if I mounted the bottom link on the frame rail insted of where it's at now I would have the space..... Quit planting ideas that result in more money!

I like the image my mind comes up with on this idea.

Something no one has mentioned, If you used a stock 70 RR bumper and were shooting for the reverse light holes the exhaust pipes would have to wrap around the fuel tank somehow to stay high enough to not be visible below the bumper.

I like the side dumps behind the rear wheel well idea a lot. My buddy did a 57 Chevy PU and used some exhaust tips from a Lexus I think it was. The flowed perfectly with the fender with minimum body work beyond the initial cutout in the fender. There are tons of cars with tips that could work in this application. Just another thought among many.

The first thing I did to the Express after disassembly was to cut out the trunk floor. 2nd was to pull the gas tank and toss it out. I planned all along to run exhaust through there somehow and found the answer when I saw the Roadkill Road runner. So, no spare tire well/gas tank hanging down in the way equals all the room I could need to run those pipes any way I want to. Mine , as I mentioned, are coming out the backup light holes of that 70 RR bumper. I see your problem though with the bumper being where it is. There's only so many places you could put them. I bet if you laid down under the car and stared at the underside for awhile you would come up with the solution. It works for me a lot, you know, the homey D bucket approach..lol.

Already did, it's where the reverse lights are.

Nah, just break out the welder and paint gun.

Alread done I guess from the sounds of your last post

Anyway here's an idea;
Hide them up & behind the real valance {where you can't se them, if there's enough room}
& use turndowns to direct the exhaust down & out, just above the rear valance lower body lines...

You wont see anything that way...
Makes for a clean look too...

Just an idea, thinking out loud...
I've done that on a few cars, sorry I don't have any photos either...

Break out another thousand

Not a bad idea but I like a nice neat visible exhaust, something that adds character I guess..... I think I'm getting bored?

As the pipe is running under the car, you make a 45* bend aiming for an area that's about 1/2 way between the wheel well and the door jamb. It ends up going past the rear frame kickup which is well ahead of the spring mount. You can oval the pipe and just have it stop flush with the body or modify the floor to raise the pipe up higher and then cut the rocker area into a half moon at the pipe exlt. Heck, you can even make the rocker exit totally encapsulate the pipe if you feel industrious. There's all kinds of ways to do an exhaust pipe exit without the springs getting in the way.... https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=1963+nascar+exhaust+outlet

This is true but where do I put the mufflers? Come to think of it my car is way to quiet........ I'd have to seriously modify my subframe connectors so they could pass threw them as well. Those long flat tips look pretty cool and might work, hmmmmmmmmmm.

Mufflers?? Who needs mufflers!? Have you ever looked at these? A simpler version can be made too. http://www.classicchambered.com/classic/products.html

I'm torn now because my biggest complaint with my car is that it's way to quiet!!!! I don't know why it's so quiet either, headers, 3" X pipe, small (maybe 9"X14") stainless mufflers and side exit should = loud? I like the idea of keeping the side exit and making it louder so I'm gonna crawl back under it and see if I can make it happen but don't know.

I think I'm finally getting what Seventy was suggesting and like it too..............

There's some oval exhaust tubing & transition to round peices available too,
good for tight &/or narrow areas, not cheap but useful if you need it...

I can't remember {brain fart} where I got them now,
I think this was them, SpinTechMufflers
http://www.spintechmufflers.com/oval-tubing/straight-lengths/cat_42.html

It may have been from these guys too Burns Stainless LLC
http://www.burnsstainless.com/304ovalsstubing.aspx

Thanks Bud, still trying to figure out how I can achieve this and keep the subframe connectors??

Do you have enough room to make a hole or notch in the sub-frame connectors ?
&
then just box it back in, where it was cut or hole-sawed,
going around the pipes going thru or under it...

I'm just spit-balling throwing **** out there, see if any of it sticks...LOL
