David Bowie dies at 69

I never cared for his music but that has nothing to do with the fact that he was happily married for 20 years and dedicated to his family. Lung cancer that spreads is a fucked up thing to have to suffer and die from and my condolences to his family. RIP Mr Bowie

So the three random songs I posted on page 1 are actually great musical works of art?

Yes. Whether you like them or not is irrelevant. Because you chose three obscure, avant garde works just shows diversity.

I'm not here to defend every piece in his catalog. As you've so eloquently stated, 50 years in the music industry you're bound to have a few turds. What I disagree with is the fact you believe there are more turds than gems. Again, opinion.

The guy did have a small handful of decent songs, but a huge catalog of ****. To avoid hearing his bad songs and platitudes of what a genius he was, these next couple of days would be a good time not to listen to music on the radio.

That being said, RIP.

Classic Dick Head living up to his stage name.

I never did say that i don't like his music. He did have a few good songs, which I will listen to, but he had far more clunkers. Telling the truth doesn't make me a hater. Sheesh!
Define "Truth" your opinion is just that, a Opinion. Where do u get it is a Fact? I could say he is the greatest artist of all time and it will still be a Opinion. Just because you have a Personal Belief does not make it a Fact.

I grew up in the era David Bowie was thriving in. He had a lot of music. I liked some of it, but not all of it. The songs I like, I really like and know off by heart, word for word, as I'm sure many do. He had a big impact on a large amount of people. He was a very talented musician.
Rest in peace, David Bowie.

There's a star man waiting the sky.....

Yoko Ono's "music" was also considered to be avant garde and we all know that was just ka-ka-poo-poo. Now, to get those three songs that I selected, all I did was google "bad songs by David Bowie" & a whole list came up. All I did was simply select three random songs and post them here. As far as the amount of turd songs, let's look at it this way... It looks like he put out 25 albums and with an average of 12 songs per album, that comes out to 300 songs total. Here's a list of his top 20 songs & there may be another 5 or 10 in there that rabid fanatics would call great.

If one were on enough drugs, there is slight possibility that one might be able to stretch the imagination enough to come up with 75-100 "great" songs, but even with that ratio, the amount of turds far exceeds "good" songs. So, whether you like it or not, I am right.

Now speculation of lung cancer, spread to liver from being a heavy smoker. And, hep from drug use earlier in life. This **** does catch up with you. Choices and consequences.

Just about all his old pictures do show him with a cigarette.

Just like any artist, some works will be somewhat undesirable and some will be chart toppers. He's not on at the top of my list of music artists but he's not at the bottom either and did listen to many of his songs. May he rest in peace....and can't we let him rest in peace....? Also, did anyone else think it's kinda ironic that he passed away at 69? :D

That's exactly what I said and yet some are giving me crap about it!

RIP!!! Let's dance..... is no more.

you can beat up his catalog all day long but one thing you can't take
away from him is that he was one of the most influential artists of our generation...
the fact is
popular/rock music wouldn't be anything close to what it is today without him!
that makes him one of the greats....

I liked Bowie a lot both as a singer and actor and don't really give a **** what other people think of who or what I like ,R.I.P. David :blob1:

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but it also needs to stay within the posting rules.
I guess the "person" who started in with the derogatory comments is free to attack someone who passed away, and continue to do so, but when I voice my opinion, the entire post is deleted? WTH? Thanks Kranky.

A guy dies, and a topic turns into a pissing contest. What happened in/to America and it's people?
