Daylight Savings time tonight.

I'm sure I've posted this before, but it bears repeating simply to show how difficult it is for some people to think beyond an elementary school level-

Back when I worked at a 1000 room 100 plus acre resort/golf course(s), I was the 4p to 12:30 guy and was in charge of property lighting.

Every year, the supervisors (the supervisors), would command a day shift employee to run around and set all the mechanical timers ahead/back one hour.

Every year, I would plead with them NOT to do this and try to explain that it really doesn't matter what time the timer says, it's going to get dark about the same "time" as it did yesterday.

Deaf ears. They just couldn't comprehend it.

..and every year, I'd have to go around after them and either move the pegs (which negated the dial movement), or simply turn the clock dial back to where it was before they messed with it.
Hopefully before it got dark (earlier, by the clock) and we started getting phone calls that areas of lights were not on.

EVERY YEAR.

So, the whole rest of the United States is inconvenienced for DECADES cause "for the children". Can't wait for a bus in the dark . So MOVE THE F#@KING SCHOOL HOURS! I agree with every word Carlin said.
I don't think the " Whole rest" of the US is inconvenienced... I bet there are at least 50% that like having light earlier in the day to drive to work in...

Kinda depends if they are looking straight into a rising sun during their commute. I would much rather have some daylight in the afternoon after work to do stuff, than an hour or two in the morning before work, when nothing gets done.

The Senate passed the bill unanimously without a vote. The House is expected to pass it quickly, the on to the POTUS for signing.

Let's hope Sleepy Joe doesn't get confused and veto the bill thinking the sun will stand still or something.

If it’s good for America, it’s doubtful he’ll sign it.

Senate Passes Bill to Make Daylight Savings Time Permanent; Failed in 1970s

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/...light-savings-time-permanent-failed-in-1970s/
Summary: S.623 — 117th Congress (2021-2022)

Shown Here:
Introduced in Senate (03/09/2021)
Sunshine Protection Act of 2021

This bill makes daylight saving time the new, permanent standard time.

States with areas exempt from daylight saving time may choose the standard time for those areas.

I'm definitely with you on that.

Congress knows 90% of America wants the bill to pass. So, they need more time to figure out how to stick it in a crap piece of legislation that wouldn't otherwise see the light of day.

If God had meant it to be 'dst' , He would have moved Greenwich England 15° east. He didnt, so we shouldnt. "Leave it like it is..." to borrow a line from David Wilcox...

Just saw DST on the 9-day weather report this morning. Apparently, the bill the US Senate passed died in the House. A similar bill in Oklahoma died in committee.

So, I guess nothing has changed; at least, in Oklahoma.

How about where you live?

Apparently next year Ontario, New York and Michigan will no longer be changing the clocks.

Haven't seen anything in the news about it here but didn't watch any of it yesterday. Don't really like waking up at 6 and it's dark until after 7. Compromise and turn em back 1/2 hour and leave it be.
