Decisions Decisions

If you have the option, I discovered that I could turn off the screen on the bedroom tv leaving just the audio playing, I set the sleep timer for 30 minutes and put on something I’ve seen a thousand times. It helps keep my mind from running and I usually don’t make it past the half hour.
That's basically what I do. Except if the TV goes off..... I wake up.
Both the gf and I NEED the TV going, to sleep.
However, I'm kinda lucky, it's very seldom that I can't sleep, or get back to sleep.
I can get up around 2am, let the dogs out, drink a coke, and go right back...... as long as the 65" TV ten feet away is on.

My sleep apnea went away when I lost a bunch of weight.
Also, sugar and carbs cause me a lot of inflammation, especially of my sinuses, which makes it hard to breathe, which makes it hard to sleep.

If I drink 1 beer I can feel my sinuses close up.
Sugar/carbs do the same to my sinuses and it's hell.... i can't seem to break it right now though... never felt as good in my life as i did on keto..sugar is soo addictive :(

Plus a lot of times in the evening if you feel hungry, it’s your body telling you you’re tired. Go to bed instead of eating.
The thing is that I don’t feel hungry but just start nibbling and don’t stop. It’s like I can’t stop. I know that’s all on me. I don’t feel tired then. Kim

I have found that three benadryl (or generics) knock my a$$ out.
I usually get about three or four hours at a stretch if I'm lucky. The dogs wake me up when it's potty time (never the gf it seems....)
Benadryl is linked to dementia. Find another way if you care about that.

I feel for you Kim,my son has the same problem. I will check to see what his new drug is this month. I do think he found one that works.

I was on that years ago.

The unfortunate thing about Ambien is your body gets dependent on it to sleep, so you have to slowly wean yourself off it. And then you worry that you might not be able to sleep without it.

Also you need about 8hrs to sleep and have the medicine wear off, otherwise you're groggy if you have anything to do or some emergency comes up.

The side effects are not good.

I really don’t have much problem falling asleep. Ten minutes or so. Just have the problem of staying asleep. Kim
do something physical to make you tired, during the day
maybe exercise or run or weight lift or work on a car :blah:
helps me sleep every time

drugs don't work, for me, neither does dope/pot CBDs at all
makes my mind wonder too much

melatonin works great for my dad
I don't use any

I've been going to bed earlier now, I used to go to bed at like midnight
until I got a new pup

I get like 5 hrs a night 'at best' now, that works for me
I'm just not working as hard physically, to make me as tired,
like before I was retired
&
I now have a now 8 month old puppy (yellow lab Baron)
getting me up at 6:00 am daily, like clock work, to go out & pee,
when I wish I could sleep in, because now, it's my best sleep I get
So;
I go to bed at like 10:00-10:30 pm, I watch some late night oldies TV, in bed
Antenna TV, FETV or METV
until I relax & I feel sleepy, works for me, it's rest at a min.
