Get the dash harness, easy to install with dash in car. Ive done 3 that way. Ok I lied its a pita. buy doable.

2004 BMW X5 E53 chassis with the N62 4.4 liter DOHC V-8 and ZF 6 speed steptronic transmission.
I drove those for years on end. Was the cheapest decent 4wd vehicle you could get in MN. Mostly all they ever need was a coolant system overhaul that runs about $1400 with RockAuto parts and I could beat on them for a few good years until the suspension was shot from city driving and then sell them for nearly what I paid. But I did have the moon roof stick a couple times and once that happens you learn to never open it again.

Someone was asking about the license plate light assembly in a different thread.

Here's mine:

What is this funky bracket on the passenger side; behind the rear axle and somewhat adjacent to the gas tank?

Did @Kern Dog have a thread a few years ago about this bracket?

I think it is a guard for the gas tank to exhaust pipe on dual exhaust cars?

Underside of hood mounted turn signal indicators for reference if anyone is interested.

Oh, here is another idea…
Charger only.
To prevent the tank from moving too far to the right and dislodging the filler neck in the event of a side impact?

Well, it is removable. I'll look in my parts book and see if I can find it.

Front face of the radiator support. Black of course.

This was removed from my Jigsaw Charger when I replaced part of the trunk floor.

The 1970 had the evaporative emissions vacuum lines too, at least the ones built with California emission equipment. They had this tube in the right side too:
