Ok alternator in and tight.

Did you get your alternator bracket figured out Brian? I can take a photo of mine if you need.

Yes as much as I had that alternator on and off as a college student you would think I would remember. I found I have 3 spare alternators... 2 square backs and one round like this repro. I used to have them in steady rotation from car to electrical shop and back... Dixie horn I think was frying them.

Figured out where these two bits go... Finally

Amazon order just showed up got two things I needed.

First the correct size fuel line for the vent line. 3' of line for 2" of vent line. Sweet!

Restoring these old cars without Classic Industries, Year One, eBay and Amazon would consume too much of my time looking for parts. Thank goodness for them delivering right to my door!

And here is what I did with it...part 1

Tach wiring hole.

I drilled a pilot hole.
IMG_20181224_154031.jpg

Measured the grommet
IMG_20181224_154006.jpg

Marked the step bit with wash off paint marker so I know exactly how far to go.
IMG_20181224_154112.jpg

Oh and before I did any of this I checked the back side of the hole to make sure I wouldn't hit any thing.
IMG_20181224_154327.jpg

Then deburred the hole with my tool and installed the line.

Part 2

My long-lost hole for the fuel sending unit wire.

I'll spare the details other than to say it was a 3/4 inch hole and I had to be very careful drilling around the gas tank.

When I was young, my buddy had a 1968 Charger with a nicely warmed over 318....car hauled *** and was a ton of fun!
They definitely don't all have to be big blocks to be fun!

Brian

Is there sound deadener on the inside of your 1/4's in the trunk area? If not you may want to spray some. B bodies have long 1/4's and the rear seat with the cardboard filler does nothing for road noise......Anything helps if you plan on cruising in it a lot.....

And while you're at it, paint that backing plate black.

Why is this steering column thing moving so much? I obviously did something wrong putting it together.

ok that's what I was afraid of...Will tackle this weekend then...

as you can see in the background I did get the instrument panel in...that was a chore too. Look at it wrong and the finish comes off... will touch it up this weekend as well.

I also put some DOT 5 brake fluid in the system and had my helper help me bleed it. The pedal is still soft put I need to adjust the brakes pads out some too. I got it to the point I wanted and found some leaks. I will do a more thorough bleed later

Got my Xmas order from YearOne and CI. Really trying to get done with underside of this car this weekend so I can swap my 08 Superbee to be on the lift and the Charger on the ground so I can work on the Charger on weeknights.

Installed the outlet side fuel line from the pump. Should have waited to put the alternator on...had to take it off to get the line in. Will work on fuel filter and line to carb shortly.

Also installed these rear axel bumpers that I finally remembered to order.

I have to go get some fluids for the rear axel and trans but should be done underneath after that...at least until she's running/moving.

Got more AC lines and stuff plus I dropped one AC line off to be rebuilt at classic Air in Tampa. Get that back in Feb.

I don't understand what this pressure sensor is doing in the receiver. I assume I can just remove it.
IMG_20190105_134158.jpg

Finally I need this AC clamp. It seems it is not reproduced. Anyone have a source new or used?

I was reminded as I went to fill the rear axle that I have no idea what axle I have.

See the photo in terms shop manual of the three types.
IMG_20190105_141134.jpg

Then see I have no fill hole on the cover.
IMG_20190105_141229.jpg

I do have one on the side (which grease came out of when I opened and seems awfully low relative to the tubes.

IMG_20190105_141239.jpg

Build sheet has a 640 code for the axle, when Wayne Wooten of the Charger Registry decoded it he said that it is a 2.76 gear in an 8.25 axle. But an 8.25 axle isn't even in the shop manual.

So what exactly do I have and what's the proper fill amount/location?

Looks like an 8.25 to me....always fill to the bottom level of the plug hole......

The gear submerged in fluid is whats important, not the axles.......
