DePouli's 1969 Charger 318

Worked on the dash some. I epoxied the center dash pad back together since they are not reproduced. It definitely fits better then it ever has in the 20+ years I've owned the car, but...well it's better...

The glove box door also doesn't seem to fit well. See the gap relative to the center pad. I guess that's ok.

How do I fix the fan control from coming off the little post? Should I JB Weld it?

That "post" is a broken off screw. Two screws hold the switch to the panel.

I may have put these one too early, but at least they are out of the way.

You'll have to pull it back off to get to the door hinges, antenna base (pass side) and the rear fender nut / bolt, cannot remember which.

I took this piece off in 1996 and never put it back on...I have no idea where it goes but I've been holding on to it... Anyone?

Hmmm, is that to mount the radio?

I dont think so. Mounted the radio fully today. I thought it was under hood related.

Maybe something unique to the Charger....hidden headlamp mount of sorts but I would guess front end? I didn't have anything like it on my 69 GTX.

Ok i got a vise grip and went to take the screw out and it was most definitely a post which snapped off, but you inspired me to another option. I ground it smooth center punched it and drilled and tapped it for a second screw...good as fixed. thanks.

Glad it worked out. Here is the one I was basing my info off of...

Got a battery tray bolt kit from YO. Unfortunately only comes with bolts and speed nuts for the tray itself but not for brackets to car mounts. I made do. Also bought exhaust manifold bolt kit. I couldn't resist stainless nuts.

More
to come. Got to take fenders, valence and decklid to sandblaster.

Ok so struggling with the AC compressor...AGAIN First off got this o-ring in a pouch with the gasket. it doesn't seem to fit anything. too big an ID to fit on the cylinder thing Anyone??

Then I continue to be less then impressed with the vendor i used for the rebuild. Now the bolts used to hold the "thing" on the back of the compressor body (that hold that cylinder and spring in place). The heads to the bolts are too big and cannot be turned as they cannot spin against the "thing". Why the vendor decided not to simply reattach this is beyond me and why whatever was there retaining this were not provided back makes me mad. Any one have pictures of what SHOULD be there so i can go back to the vendor for AGAIN for more work. At least this time i wont have to bring the whole unit.

Did a lot of misc. little things today. kinda running out of things to do until I can get the dash in (waiting on back ordered parts) and full paint.

What is the "thing", the TPR valve laying on the battery box? Are you going to run R134a?

If running R136a then that goes in the tool box. You are suppose to put a cycling switch with a temperature sensor on the expansion valve but I understand when it starts to freeze up and I just turn it off by hand and cycle it manually (in the desert it does not freeze often, in the SE it may be different). The adapter that bolts to the RV-2 and the shown muffler screws to is held on with allen wrench bolts to the back of the RV-2

See attached photo with questions on it. Any help is appreciated . Thanks.

I did have it converted to R134.

So the cylinder thing is not needed?

You can put it in but the pressures are totally wrong for it and those that have complain it does not cool well. Mine will freeze me out.
