distance to get car

Drove from Wisconsin to Austin, Texas and back for a car.
had others shipped to Wisconsin from Washington, California and Ohio.

Dragged a trailer about 400 miles round trip and didn't buy the car. About $200 in diesel fuel. And I would do it again in a heartbeat. I think that is what he means when says "It's all about the chase"

You'll have to show her that we are crazy or more so than you. Last car purchased a little over 400 miles. 2400 miles one way was the furthest.........

Drove 100 miles to see my 71 Charger and had to arrange shipping to my house. About to drive the 100 miles again to go look at a 71 Satellite and have it transported home.

Drove about 5 hours each way to first inspect my winning bid on eBay for a 67 Charger in 2000 back when there was a little less structure for such purchases. Had to negotiate down price on the spot as the transmission was worse than represented. A week later, had the car shipped back to me. Still own the car 14 years later and am finally restoring it properly. 235 miles is certainly reasonable!

Drove 335 miles each way to pick up my wife's Mustang GT. My buddy here in Cleveland has a friend in Atlanta, so when he need a used vehicle he flies down, crashes with his friend, finds a deal, and drives over 700 miles back north with a rust free southern car.

I've also driven dozens or even hundreds of miles only to not buy the car.

Even some cars that look good in many pics can still be hiding things.

I hauled a trailer 850 miles round trip for my 69 Charger. Like others have said, don't buy a vehicle without looking at it first.

I took a trailer and got mine because shipping would have taken to long and I didnt want to buy it sight unseen.26 hour round trip from Maryland to Franklin NC.

Mine was only 115 miles away, but I would without hesitation have driven further for the right car. As terzmo said, I would not buy a car without seeing it.

I drove about 250 miles round trip for my Formula S, and about 200 round trip for my Road Runner. I drive trucks for a livin' so that's no big deal.

I drove over 1800 miles round trip (Illinois to New Jersey) with a trailer. Just used the trailer to haul extra engines and other parts that were included. Had the car hauled back on semi.

I've bought cars on ebay sight unseen (nice pictures) from 2500 miles away and the car did not disappoint, of course the car was only $600, but was 1400 to ship it. The last purchase was just over 1900 miles away. When the shippers started jerking me around my wife said let's just go get it ourselves, so I borrowed my brother's 4x4 Hemi Ram and took off after work. After two full days of driving we picked up the car (which thankfully included a trailer) and then pulled everything back. Sure it was a little more money than a shipper, but we spent some quality time together and picked up a killer car. Those are the longest distances traveled to get one, but I have bought cars from my neighbor (about 100 feet away) so we figure that it all balances out.

When I was 16 I wanted to go down to Atlanta,GA to buy a 70 Charger R/T SE, but my dad didn't want to go, so I had to pass on the car, that ended up with me getting my GTX. Here I am over 25 years later driving all over for parts, cars and memorabilia. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Drove from New Jersey Coast to Idaho to pick up a shell parts car. 5000 miles in 5 days round trip. My son was my co-pilot

I flew from Detroit to Nashville to look at a car. The car was much better than I thought it was going to be. Ended up buying it and driving it home. It was 550 miles home. Took nearly 9 hours. It was a great trip in a fun car! 73 Challenger, 440, tremec 5 speed, dana 60.

My wife and I drove from Cape Coral FL to just north of Green Bay Wisconsin for my 65 Belvedere.
Also from Cape Coral to Charlotte NC for my current 65 Dodge.
Other cars I have bought sight unseen other than photos and conversations with the sellers and had them shipped.

Hey, our hobby is one where you have to go where the car is (or parts) to get what you want. It's not like you can go to a local dealer and buy it off the showroom floor (unless you're RC buying Hellcats!!!).

My first 70 Saty ragtop was bought 3 blocks from my house. My second from 1600 miles away.

We gotta do what we gotta do !!!!
