DOGS

I was given about 4 hours of training with my dog. I am learning quite a bit as I work with him. He marks really well. He was marking the ball I threw for him. I really need to work more on his social skills.
I am anxious to get him over some quail and some chukar. They will hold so he can work on his pointing skills. This spring I bought 20 quail and 10 chukar. Picking them up next week.
I remember hunting quail, chukar and pheasant. Only hunted quail and chukar on a game farm, in Illinois. Never saw them hunting in the wild. I hunted quail in Mississippi and Alabama, man those quail are fast.

A word of WARNING to those who took my advice on this ball. It is NOT quite gsd proof! Ii gave my dogs two new ones this morning (all I could find). While Mopar and Magnum played roll the ball down the hill with me with some old ones, Hemi and Cuda chewed the s#!t out of the new balls with the squeeekers.
A few minutes later, I saw Cuda struggling to swallow something. Before I could get to him and open his mouth it was gone...... and so was the squeaker from his new ball. It's normal that they kill the squeaker in five minutes or less, but they haven't been eating them.
So, now we have to watch him closely for pooping distress, hope he passes it, and worry that he might not. I'm afraid I see vet bills in my future.....

Edit: we have four more coming in a few days, the squeekers will be removed before my dogs get them.

I hope everything goes good, thoughts are with you and the pup sir!

Years ago our Springer ate a squeaker, suffered no ill effects and passed it. She hardly did that . Had a soft mouth unless there was something she really wanted. We had to let her go join the other dogs that were no longer with us on Sept 28th. 11.5 years of happiness with Casey. She still had at least 10 year old toys of all description except for any cloth rope type which could probably destroy in two sessions.

As I said, whenever you get a pet, unless you're really old, you have to know you're going to be losing it someday. I've lost a lot of pets in my life and Little Bear the Newfie making it to 11 years old was really good for a dog that big. I'm okay with her passing.

Yep Riley tore hers up also. They did last longer

Not a dog, sorry. My daughter went with my ex to adopt a kitten. Funny how quickly shelter animals adopt their new owners. There were a bunch of pictures like this.

@SteveSS don't be sorry about a puddy tat, they ARE lovable, cute with a side of ATTITUDE & independence, keeps life interesting.

@33 IMP SUPER CUTE PUP, what is with the tongue sticking out, "LOCKED & LOADED" for face licking? Neat ears, coat markings are purdy.
