DOGS

New update.
Well, we now have two beauties, a deafie, and a gimp.
Liz found the owner on Facebook, i went over to talk to him. I did NOT bring the dog.
I wanted him to i.d. his dog, and I wanted him to convince me he wanted her back. He went 1 for 2.
Story was strange, two different ones, how she ended up on the street. He did say she has a plate or rod in her leg, so she was injured a while ago, apparently...yet she has an open wound area on her back leg that was fly infested when I found her.
I believe he asked if I wanted her, before I even broached the subject. I called Liz, and put him on the phone with her. Bottom line, I asked her if she wanted this dog.
Bottom line....... we now own a 3 1/2 legged dog. (Who the owner said didn't like anybody...... who liked Liz almost instantly..... and is already in love with me.)
I'm celebrating with another beer. I usually drink one or two a week, second one today.
Liz made a vet appointment for her already, I believe for tomorrow. (Edit, actually Halloween.)
Wow a lot in a short time...

She sounds like she's better off with you 2 & your 3 boys

:drinks: drink one for me...
You're a good man for helping her...

This fella came to great me at my first stop this morning. He would have crawled right in the van with me.

Lost my best buddy ever back in July.

Jack was the greatest pal anyone could’ve ever wanted . We were all so tore up about him….. my father had already taken action on a new pup…..

His first real bath was today. Dogs are the best

Sorry for your loss. I think every dog owner knows the feeling. The best way to fill the hole, is a new dog (of any age) that needs a new forever home. Jmo.

33imp's new dog came with a hurt leg
Word is, she broke her femur badly, jumping out of her owners truck, when she was about six months, has a stainless pin. (I think she is about seven or eight yrs old) The open sore on the same leg is what concerns me. I've been trying to keep it clean with peroxide. She's gonna see the vet on Thursday to make sure she will be okay with the other dogs, health wise. My guess? she gets a collar.
That won't make introductions any easier.

While she is on the mend, refrain from using any flea/tick etc meds. AKA poisons. Years ago our Rotty got hit by a car, left thigh was shattered. Pins, screws, plates etc. 4 separate surgeries and the bones were not knitting back together well. I asked the vet about the Flea meds to see if this was why she wasn't getting much progress on the healing. He said that was a new one for him and could very well be the reason but hard to verify. We didn't apply anymore of that stuff for like a year. Also we rescued a male version of your new gal, 6 month old pup, and he did his part on her daily PT. Like yanking on her foot until she got pissed at him from the pain. She did heal and not end up as a tripod.

I really appreciate it. Jack was the best. He was a total pain in the *** around people he didn't know.....but that made him perfect for a MOPAR dog.
