Donuts in the snow

How about having your friends hold on to the back bumper and pulling them on a snow covered parking lot or a frozen lake.
I was waiting for someone to post that .
We used to call it bumper skating, when it was slick as he// 2 or 3 of us would grab on the bumper of a car at a stop sign , go till you fell or let go.

I have taken the grandkids out and did donuts with the pickup, they love it.

Back in the day, doing donuts in the snow waiting for spring to do burnouts! Pic is of my cousin Lloyd in his 69 road runner, who taught me everything I know about mopars. Lost him too soon in '94..... He was hit by a car while trying to help another motorist broke down on the side of the road..Being a Marine, he never asked why, he just did it. Miss him dearly everyday.

We call them whipping shitties and do them still to this day in the snow. Wont hurt open diffs on snow and ice. We did them on lawns and gravel roads too. Whipping shitties in town too. Whip shitties on my 4 wheeler still too.

Sorry Man, but that has to be the strangest reference that I have ever heard.
I can understand the term ..."whipping" but what the hell does that have to do with "shitty" ???
I have heard:
Bootlegger 180......Flip a "u-ey".....Spinning brodies....But "whipping shitties? The mere thought of that phrase makes me feel less smart.

We called it "Snurfing" (Snow Surfing).

Yeah,... and "Spinning brodies" is a lot better. Not saying "Whipping Shitties" made sense or where it came from,... That's just what everyone called it. Lighten up dude!

This was the best car in the world for doing 360s on pavement. Dead stop, turn wheels to left or right lock, take up driveline slack, nail it & execute spin with no forward movement.

I guess it had many different names. In Chicago we called it "skitching". It was not only fun, it was a mode of transportation.

Thats what they called them long before i came along. Sorry if that bruises your tender intelligence.:poke:

The term may have been "tradition" to some but I've never followed trends just because other people did. If a group of people used slang terms that I thought was strange, I'd stick to my guns and say what makes sense to me. I've been like this all of my life.
I didn't understand the use of the term "brodie" either but it just seems less strange to my ears.
Regardless, whatever people call it, this stuff is fun. I didn't grow up near snow though, just dirt and pavement.

'bootlegger 180' I've never heard but it's logical. I've always called a fast 180 a 'Rockford' since James Garner popularized the move(for the sheep)on the Rockford Files.
'Flip a uey' was common to my crowd, we also said 'hang a uterus' a lot. 'Hang Roger' was right, 'Hang LeeRoy' was left.
'Brodies' & 'Donuts' were common vernacular but I never heard 'Whipping Shitties' either. Must have something to do with geography......what phrasing becomes first hand where.

I've heard about the "Rockford" but that one seemed confusing to me as well....I recall Jim Rockford's signature stunt was the REVERSE 180. A forward 180 should have a different description...in my own opinion.

I have never heard the brodie thing.
Flipping a uey was simply making a u turn. A rockford is racing backward and hitting the brake and turning at the same time and hitting the gas again when pointed the opposite direction. Doing it forward would just be an akward u turn??
Just whippin shitties here
