After searching the advertising highway for a half hour, I give up. Question: Similar in design, how much better is the dp4b than an OEM 1966 four barrel?

lighter and cooler for starters.........ran one on a 383 in the day, I liked it

I really like mine. Only part I don't like is I had to make a new brace for the AC compressor on my 69 charger. Dyno results on a mild motor is pretty crazy how well they perform against stock and modern aftermarket intakes. I'd do it if as long as you're not paying new modern intake price.

$10 per horsepower gain is inviting. They look very much like a stock manifold, only slightly bloated. What is WAG?
Yes the DP has quite a bit more cross section than the very flat, small 64-67 intake.
WAG - wager a guess

DP4B is superior to the new Performer.

In what application?

Stock, wore out low performance 383, not much.

Fresh and warmed-up 383 with good heads, compression, street cam, and headers, quite a bit.

The Dp-4b and the Performer 383 are essentially the same

I'm using the original 1966 AFB on a fresh stock motor with lightly ported 452 heads, 1968 HP exhaust, and a "383 Magnum" grind camshaft. It came with a standard cam (325 horse)

So, the larger runners hold a bigger charge even though it's sucked through the same size hole in the head?

In the app you described, I would 100% go with the Dp-4b. The stock manifold probably flows quite a bit less than your heads. I'd guess 20 plus horses better with the DP. (Paint it, grind the logo's off first, no one will know).

Hmmm. IDK. Maybe. I guess I see it maybe a bit differently though.

The details are so important on a 383. It is so easy to build a turd. Measured CR, and specifics as to the head work matter.

If it’s a true measured 9.5:1 CR, good heads (tight guides, straight valves, back cut, throat opened, and a competition vg) and 750+ carb and headers, probably 20+ hp. As you pull stuff out of the build, that number gets smaller pretty quick IMO.

The old resto to rad articles on 383 and 440 showed power added at each step.
That 1966 afb is going to be the literal bottleneck however. I wouldn't pay big money for any non oem intake with that carb unless it's been worked by a stock class racer.

Add the Weiand Action Plus

My *** couldn’t tell any difference on the street

Along with just about any dyno numbers

Agreed.

If you take the Performer 383 and flip it front to back, it is the DP4B.
