This car is way up there on my dream car list too. Since the original car is out of my price range,I am building a replica out of a Plum Crazy purple Charger R/T.
Actively working on my my dream. GT40 by age 40. Replica of course, aiming to build it myself. Tough call but I think I am going to go MKII. Now I just need to scrape together the $120,000 to build it and we are all set...

Need the Dan Gurney Bump , he was 6'2" IIRC, he fit...To fit in it, I hope that you’re less than 5’-6” tall.
Need the Dan Gurney Bump , he was 6'2" IIRC, he fit...
there are bodies/models/reproductions-tributes/cones
IIRC now with;
like 2-4" longer area in the cockpits especially for legs/footwells,
also in the doors & wheelbase to accommodate a lil' bit bigger people
it's not a MKII though, but looks the part
Yep !!!I have a friend who has an accurate replica of an original GT40 and when I climb on and sit down, my eyes are level with the top of the windshield header. Also, after climbing in, I can’t get my knees under the dashboard and Im 5’-11” tall.
Anyone who is considering a GT40 better sit in one first before buying one.
My friend has a 71 V code 4 speed GTX.I did own my dream car but didn't know it at the time.
1977 the prices for mopar muscle was in the basement.
My 71 V code 4 spd, track pack , console delete GTX had aprox 35k on it for miles when I sold it.

Sounds like your first one was similar to thisI had this (not mine but like it, I have no photos, just slides)
as my 1st real car, (I had a POS 65 Galaxie 500XL, $150 car prior)
day before my 15th BD when I got my permit July11th 1974, $350
68 Charger R/T GG1 Dark racing Green, blk top guts & stripe
2 days later I put Crager's S/ST 15x7 frt F60/15 & 15X10's N50/15 rear
(a true day 2 car)
that car was my "I wish I never sold it" or I had kept it to this day...
I had it for 15+ years, last rendition it was 1977 Corvette bright yellow/blk
I hated it right after I painted the car, thought that was a huge mistake
sort of lost interest after that (I was young & dumb, full of cum)
I had several different engine/trans combos, mostly 440/727tfs
swapped out gears or TQs like underwear, from 3.55:1 to 5.13:1,
you name it ever thing in between
I even had a lowly 318 w/bolt-ons & 5:13:1 gears in it
& I beat the crap out of a tone of BB muscle cars...
Last one was a 513cid 2x4bbl RB stroker, Grumpy's Pro-stock hood
tf/w- a J converter 4,200 & 4.56:1 & had a 6:71 blower motor,
w/2 x Holley 660 center squirters, prior, right around when the
Pro-street craze started
I sold it to my cousin Joe (Aug ? IIRC 1989) & he wrecked/totaled it
in 2 weeks, it went to the crusher, never to be seen again
I was heartbroken, I really didn't want to sell it,
but I also I had 4 others, 1) 68 in red, 2) 69s 1 piss yella' other that dark red
& a 70 in B5 all were R/Ts
& had to thin the herd, I needed cash for my racecar parts
not mine just a -www- photos

They only built 13 of them! Very rare car! I almost sold my V code Charger R/T. I'm glad everyday I still have it.My 1970 dodge charger rt se 426 hemi I still hate I sold it
That would be a cool television show! FBI agent tracks down and arrests criminals in a 70 Hemi Charger R/T SE! Title would have to be Criminal Hemisfear! Some mine to an fbi agent 25 years ago
I plan on visiting RCR in Michigan before making the purchase. To my understanding their setup can suit 6' tall folks like me relatively well. Thankfully I don't plan on wearing a helmet either!I have a friend who has an accurate replica of an original GT40 and when I climb on and sit down, my eyes are level with the top of the windshield header. Nothing like growing up with a Mopar muscle car in the family! My parents bought this new in 1970!Easy one, there is only one car I really want, my Dads 70 6bbl 4 speed Roadrunner convertible. It was the most beautiful car I’ve ever seen, and was an instant hit in our neighborhood, and by anybody whoever laid eyes on it. Missing since 1973, I would love to see it again, and more importantly bring it back home where it belongs.
