electric vehicle commercials......

I do not care what any body drives
Just find it funny when half the auguments against the elecrtic car thing is about the bad thing the battery is going to cause the people mining it and what happens after the battery is done its life but are still using the same battery in their cell phone or laptop while reading about it and posting
Yes but it's all about quantity.
If I cut one tree down in a forest to make a house and some firewood nobody will bat an eyelid.
If I cut down the whole forest to make 10,000 houses then it has a bigger impact.

How many phone batteries fit in one electric car battery?

This is not difficult to comprehend.

The most popular tesla battery pack has 7,100 18650 batteries. Each battery having 3500mAh capacity . An iphone 14 has a single 3200mAh battery. One charge of a tesla would be the equivalent of 7765 charges of an iphone. Not quite the same now is it?

This leads one to ask how many electric car batteries can you make from 1,000,000,000 cell phone batteries?
That's a good question as well. I don't know the answer, I haven't kept up with what the latest cars, or phones use. But I'd guess that most phones use less than most laptops or tablets which can use anywhere from three to six 18650 cells, a common item. In comparison, the first Tesla roadster used 6,831 of those same 18650 cells. At that rate, if each phone used only the equivilant of two of those cells, then roughly 300,000 cars. But that's 2008 technology numbers and most likely both the phones and EVs actually use more now, and probably a more advanced cell than the 18650 which is a little larger than an AA battery.

You can not have it both ways
Either you like batteries in your phone and car or you hate them and use neither
I can go a lot farther on a charge with my cell phone than an EV. And I can find countless more places to charge my phone than an EV.

It doesn't 43,000 gallons of water
to put out a burning cel phone.
We just talked about this at the firehouse the other night. You're looking at a good hour of cooling down to put out an EV fire.

EV fires are electrical fires. So as long as the battery has charge, it has a fuel source.
The issue with lithium is the oxidizer is also the ignition source. You have to seal the lithium away from the atmosphere to stop the fire, or 100% discharge the battery so there is no electrical energy to fuel it to have a chance of stopping the fire. These are not your old time car battery. EV's hold an absurd amount of amp/hour. This amperage makes the vehicle extremely dangerous for emergency responders to approach as well, they have to treat it like a downed power line because who knows if the car is grounded out or not.

Water will not stop these fires. Might keep it from spreading by keeping temperature down, but it won't put it out. Best thing to use right now is the special foam agent that seals off the lithium from an air supply. Then, it is still extremely dangerous to move the vehicle. There are videos of tow trucks dragging the "extinguished" car onto the ramp only to distrub the seal and have the car burst into flames again on the top of the tow rig.

Here is a video of Dewalts new EV mower. It caught fire, at a equipment expo, in the demo ring(which is pretty lol to me actually)
You can see them spraying the fire down. It goes "out" and smokes. Then the flames return. This happens numerous times because water does not work.
They eventually dug a pit next to it and pushed it in.

With all of this, even if you can afford one or for some reason actually want one, good luck paying the insurance premiums.

anything that is making China more money can't be good so I care about what I buy and try to buy made in USA when possible

Listen here, Lipshitz…
I don’t know of any cell phone that runs on gasoline. They use batteries. There are no options.
Cars? The good ones run on gasoline like God intended. Your argument is…..

Well you missed the whole point of what I said
How can the complainers about the elecrtic car battery ( that is all I am talking about not why the electric car thing in general is coming about ) can crab about it while most of them are on their battery powered cell phones or lap tops posting about their hate of batteries as they are using them to do it ......

Also said I do not care what anybody drives so have no issue if you drive gas or diesel or electric or ride a bycicle ...

No, I read what you wrote. It is pointless though.
There are no 1800 lb cell phone batteries. You could put many thousands of cell phone batteries in the same space as an EV battery.
Try another angle. This one is invalid.

this is just silly...... "powered by you"....... wtf? does it have pedals?

Someone actually paid $11,500.00 for this thing that looks like a chopped porta-potty on wheels?

Cell phones aren't advertised as "saving the planet", either....the whole EV thing is a sham.

If they were worth it, the government wouldn't have to subsidize them to make people buy them.

EV's are good for the environment my ***! What a waste of resources! How is this "saving earth" when so many of them spontaniously burst into flames and spew toxic fumes and carbon into the atmosphere? Children labored super hard to mine the lithium for all those batteries just to go up in toxic smoke. The price on these toxic waste dumps on wheels needs to be at least double what they are since they're so destructive to the enviroinment.
