Trying to keep up a decent pace Dave. I'm also trying to avoid having a half naked Plymouth Roadrunner Garage ornament 3 years from now

will,i can't believe the amount of work you are doing at the speed you are getting it done.compared to what i've done on mine, they will be using my runner to lead the parade for my funeral.:rolling::rolling:

Thanks for the kind word gent's. And Roger, I can't think of a better way to be shoved off to the after life than with a Plymouth leading the show

I don't know if I can really call this progress guys, but I got the trim, lock, linkage and latch stripped of my trunk and dropping off tomorrow to have it media blasted along with a couple other odds and ends.. Quoted me $35 bucks when all said and done. I can't even buy media for my blaster for that so......have at it!

Just wanted to post some "Before Pic's"

One question for you guys......The trunk lid is from a 69' satellite which still had the "Plymouth" emblem still on it where there would be a Roadrunner emblem otherwise. Is that plymouth emblem the same one they used for the front hood lip on the Roadrunner? It's about a 1/16" under 9" from the edge of the P to the edge of the H.

Have a good one fella's!

Hey Will to answer your ?? the plymouth logos are the same on the satellite and runner on the hood and trunk for the 69 cant believe the progress u are making Roger and I are in the same boat,I am beginning to think this my satellite will never run.

I can tell you what that is like!:edgy:

LOL...Common, give yourself some credit buddy. You're showing great resolve on the "DOG", with professional results as well

Ben,

Thanks for answering my question. That works out great considering I was missing the front emblem.

As far as a vigerous pace, just remember, at least you guys already have the cars you wanted in life. They're not going anywhere. Take your time and do it right. You will spend a heck of a lot less time and money if you sit back and plan out your approach accordingly as well as being a lot more happy with the end result. Also, all good things are worth waiting for!

Cheers! :beermug:

Glad to see you got that trunk lid out of the kitchen before you got strung up by your better half lol!!

Hey Prop, my crashed 65 mustang troubles are behind me so I can move on to my project dirty bird.

I turned it around really quick, 2 weeks after the accident I took this:

And I turned it into this:

I don't mind saying it looks exactly 40 years younger after a little spit & polish. lol!!

We surprised the daughter last night with her "replacement pony", she cried a river of tears and kept repeating the word "awesome".

So I think I did ok and we can move on now.

You're doing good work here too Prop, not quite as fast as I work but it's coming along.... j/k

lol!!

:)

Thanks Mario........You should get a project! Common, everyones's doing it!

Wow Dave...That is quite the quick turnaround! You must have used that new Benjamin Franklin Wax...LOL

I must say, you're one heck of a giving parent. Your daughter sure is lucky.

Got some work done tonight before getting tied up watching John Wayne night. I don't watch much TV, but I will take some time to have a beer and watch the Duke. The old lady is out of town and that means this weekend is "Plymouth Weekend." My buddy just picked up a 71' Roadrunner we'll be tearing apart and I got the rest of the drivers side rocker to contend with on mine. High's in the 50-60's, great working weather!!! I'll post up some pic's soon.

Have a good holiday all!

Why was I not informed of John Wayne night?

:)

I'm headed out to deer camp for a couple of days to get away from these things around here that hurt my back.

Here's a quick short mopar feelgood story. My dad came to visit me last weekend from Duluth. He bought himself a 1969 dodge super bee off the showroom floor in 1969. He said there were 2 to pick from on the lot, both identicle green cars with 383's & auto trans. One had a heavy duty radiator, he took that one. That car is long gone now but you should have seen the old man come to life when I took him for a ride in my 69 road runner last Saturday, we punnished the tires! :)

I pulled over and told hom he better drive it. Wow it was like going back in time for him, he was in his glory! And he wasn't too kind to the tires either! :)

I can't wait to see more pictures prop, I'll probably check back on Monday.

Have a great weekend everybody!!

Have a good one at camp! Bow season start over there in Minnesota or you setting up stands/bait piles?

Cool story about your Dad. Mighty nice of ya to toss the keys to your old man. I can imagine he was smiling ear to ear at the helm.

I'll give you a heads up next time AMC has Jonn Wayne night...Had on McClintock and North to Alaska...Great Flicks!

After Spending half the day tearing into my buddies new toy, finally got a chance to completly rip out the drivers side rocker. I'm not going to go into every aspect of the drivers side seeing I already posted on the passenger side.

A few things I'll toss on here.....

First off for those who haven't tackled rockers, be sure to have your spot weld cutter handy. You're looking at 50-60 to drill out at least, including some that tie in the internal supports and where the quarter bends in to join up with the rocker. Also make sure your cutter bit is attached to a longer arbor. With your drill chuck getting hung up on the edge of the rocker down below, it's not very fun drilling out a spot weld at an angle, unless you enjoy watching your bit walk all over your sheetmetal.

The inner rocker is not too bad for a majority of the space. There is a section I will have to patch towards the front, but will be pretty easy compared to some of the other hurdles i've been running into.

Just a heads up to you guys that choose the AMD rockers. There is an internal structual support towards the front in the factory rocker. The AMD rockers do not come with this support. Either you will have to cut/drill out the old one if in good enough shape or fabricate a new one. I know AMD does not have them.

good to know will, think mine are ok but i'll look anyway,

Thanks 68'. Not a whole lot more major metal surgery left, but still plenty to keep me busy for quite a while yet.

Hope yours stood the test of time Roger....Rockers are a bit more of a pain in the rear than you think they would be.

A bit more work done today....

Sectioned out an area that needs replacement on the inner rocker. Replaced with a fresh chunk of 18 GA. sheetmetal.

I didn't spend a whole lot of time making the repair look cosmetically appealing since this is probably the last time I or anyone else will see it again. Just smoothed the weld down enough to keep deposits from settling on any kind of edge.

Cleaned up all the metal via grinding/wirewheel and tossed on a couple heavy coats of rust bullet.

And I thought the passenger side rear rocker was rotted bad..Geezzz. More cancer out the door!

Wow, yep once again I'm very impressed. I knew I could open this forum, come right to this project and I'd be impressed.

Prop, bear season is open here but deer archery isn't on till Sept 18 but I don't do the string and stick any more. Too busy this time of year, I have replaced archery with black powder which opens after thanksgiving for us. Regular firearms season is really my thing tho. We were putting in a sandpoint well this weekend at camp. It's going to work, we just need to blow it out a little so it flows better.

Nice work on the inner patch, sure makes a lot of sense to patch like that where you can.
