Congrat's on the upcoming boy 70roadrunner...Hopefully another upcoming Mopar fan. Neat looking cars!

Finally got a chance to get a bit of work done tonight. I was able to remove the remaining parts of the chopped up passenger side quarter. Hopefully i'll move on to changing out part of the trunk gutter and clean/prep the area for quarter install here in the next couple days.

Gotta say with the hinge rebuild and spending ample time lining the doors and the striker up, these doors open/close and swing as good as if not better than a new cars...Definitly worth the time and effort!!!!

Did you re-do the upper hinges as well? I tried to get the pins out of my upper hinges and no way in hell are they coming out, tried everything.

Superfreak....I did rebuild the uppers. I used Map gas torch (more heat than propane), to heat up the hinge. Heat up the hinge on as much of the surface you can get to for a couple minutes or so. Hit out the hinge pin from the bottom up. If it don't come out, heat it up longer and try again. You will probably have to do the same to drive out the bushings after the pin is out.

Hey Prop, Just re-read this thread, and caught up! Man, I assume the blood clot surgery was successful? Don't play with that crap; I had a clot in my leg, the Army mis-diagnosed it, 5 months later I was in the ER with a Pulmonary Embolism and nearly left my projects uncompleted! Took Coumadin for 6 months, been off it for years now, thank god! What's your status? Hope good!

Hey thanks for asking Donny...Doing good! Back in the saddle, just in time to be pulling 80 hour work weeks LOL. Money's good I guess.

I hear you on the seriousness of vascular problems. I had blood going down to my leg, but it wasn't coming back up too well. Had a funky bulge in my leg from it (blood backing up), and after an ultrasound, found out I had a valve in a main artery not hardly working down there. The DOC said pretty much a perfect place for blood clots to start forming.

I hate going to the doctor and asked the guy if I could push it off till winter. He just asked me how good of life insurance do I have..

No crazy meds to take. They think the problem may have stemmed from all the damage i've done to that leg in the past. Lot's of scar tissue down there. I can tell the leg is a bit weaker than the other now after they sawed through some of my muscles, but i'm not going to let it slow me down. It will come back around

Thanks again for asking and I hope all is going well with the blasting business. Take a break and hit up some time on the GTX of yours. You work too much man!! A guy deserves a break every once in a while.

BTW....do you need the rocker panel faces that go right in the very front of the rockers? They came with the new AMD rockers I put on and I'm not going to use them. You can have them if you need them. Better than collecting dust around here.

I'd toss some good penetrating oil on it like ZEP 45 or Liquid wrench, let it sit overnight and try it again. I had to use a 2LB hand maul to beat mine out. It wasn't a matter of a few hits from a stanley homemaker hammer.

If that don't work, grind off the top head of the pin and drive it down with a punch. Obviously use heat again.

If that don't work, take off the whole hinge and bring it down to your local machine shop to have them press it out.

I always seem to aquire rotten cars being the area I live in and found usually a bit of heat, penetrating oil and big hammer usually make things finally give. If they don't, well, that's usually a pretty good indication that part is already too far gone.

I'd say in your situation you could still get that apart one way or another. I've also seen one of my buddies use a two arm puller to get a door hinge pin out of an old Catalina. There is a couple companys around that make hinge pin pullers (Eastwood is one of them that I know of). I've never used them so I couldn't tell you if they work well or not.
 
Sure thing Prop, and I'll throw in some more BBQ sauce for ya, PM for info again - addy's etc. It's all about having a steady hand, not too fast, nor too slow, but, I never turn anyone away that needs something blasted! Took in a one-piece fiberglass hood/cone for a 'Vette this morning, will have to apply some TLC to this one! But, the $$ is good.
 
No need for more BBQ Donny......You were more than generous last time. Just PM over your address and I'll get them out the door this week. Blasting fiberglass, that sounds pretty tough to do. Good Luck!
 
It's not too bad to do, just got to be careful, low pressure (around 18 psi), correct acrylic material, and a deft hand will leave the 'glass smooth as it was when new! But one bottle broke in transit, I will feel bad if I can't reciprocate with a new bottle!

Moved forward on the Roadrunner tonight..

Decided to remove/replace part of the trunk gutter and patch up a bit of the rear deck filler panel..

Tac'd in a 5/16" rod from the outer wheelhouse to the backside of the tail light bucket, seeing when I pull out the section of gutter she'll spring out of place. Also used the plumb bob to mark some spots down on the trunk pan.

Had to do some crazy jigging/stretching on the bottom side to get the AMD replacement to fit in well.

Sectioned 4'' off a different deck filler in the gutter area. Fit in, drilled and ready to be welded. Also had to do some pretty significant relief cuts and a pie cut to get the new section to fit in properly

Enjoyed swapping this part out. Didn't take much effort and had quick results.

hey will,just had a chance to get on line at our truck shop in mnpls here.I am watching your work with amazement. can't wait to see wht you do with the rear window channel and side pillar,since i will have to repair mine.
 
Well Roger, actually just got done wrapping up the rear window channel. I would have snapped a few more pic's along the way if I new you were looking to do the same down the road..

Before I ripped out the old channel I marked the location of the old one via a plumb bob. Measured from the center of the curve of the channel and marked the spot on the top of the inner wheelhouse. After a little repair/weld work I wire wheeled the area and coated.

Welded in! Now, this side is ready for a new quarter.....
