Family Tradition

Thanks Ron! And that's a great idea with the valve covers! The price for another set would be cheaper because the tooling/CAD cost would not be charged a second time. Hmmmm. I do have several more parts and a Dyno to pay for coming up, but that's a good thought if I run into room on the budget or even afterwards. Mounting them in the middle wouldn't work being the milled "Mopar Performance" in the center, but to the front or rear would still look killer. Thanks for the idea.

Hi Propwash,

First of all, I want to say your build is absolutely inspiring. I have restored quite a few vehicles over the last few years, but your build is something else! I am quite lucky in the sense that most of the cars I build are in a lot better condition (rust wise) than yours was from the start. To look at it now though, you would never know :)

I have read this thread from start to finish (all 92 pages, including the drooling over the BBQ pics) over the last 8 hours and I just want to say thankyou for not only going to the effort of saving your Bird, but also for sharing with everyone the ins & outs of restoring these cars.

Hey Matt, have you ever wanted to clone yourself to get more of your stuff done, and done exactly the way you want it done? I have! Ever thought about parlaying that hobby into a money-making venture? I suppose it's just which hobby/job you enjoy the most? I'm sure the woodworking you do is as much (if not more) of a passionate love as the car end of things, right?
Hey Donny, I would love to have another me but he wouldn't be allowed to look at Craigslist or even leave the shop. I've thought about doing this for money but have decided to stick with the custom furniture, that's where my greatest potential for making money lies. The cars will remain a hobby.

Thanks Rob! Glad you enjoy the thread and I appreciate the compliments. Lotta great resto threads on this site and i'm happy to share mine. If it inspires someone else to pick up that die grinder, welder or torch, mission accomplished.

Little progress guys... Port/gasket matching the Doug's headers. Dropping them off at a local place tomorrow for the high temp (rated 2000F) black ceramic coating to be applied. $250 total for them to be blasted, dipped (coated Internally & Externally) and baked/cured. Seems like a pretty good deal. Hopefully be picking up the engine the end of the week or early next week.

Won't be long now ... also can you make sure all of your photo updates have the runner in the background? Just kidding but it's cool she's there in this one.

Those will look great. What color are you painting your engine?

Thanks guys! Engine will be Matte black Roger, with the Eddy heads, billet valley pan hold down bars, distributor clamp and Indy intake retaining their aluminum surface. Thanks Tallhair, hopefully soon enough it will be action shots of the bird hitting the pavement.

Will i feel the ground shake @30miles?:)

Not as horrible as last years massive 1.5 earthquake in Clintonville, but we'll get something a shaking around this place. Or better yet, we'll just meet up and go terrorize Waupaca in a couple Plymouths..lol

No need to be Bud.....You have a great ride yourself! I appreciate the compliment though. :icon_mrgreen: Glad to be coming to a close. Thinking about it, it's crazy how much i've learned from this car, this site, and all you guys along the way. Gotta say, priceless!

Another question......Picked up an adjustable fuel log for the Quickfuel. Where does the 2 metal washers that came with it go? (left side of the pic) Directions didn't mention anything.
