Looking at a 69 Roadrunner and I am questioning what the original color was. The seller says it was an red (R6) car, but according to the tag it looks like it was a two tone car but it was white?? Here is the info

R11 V02 V21 END
A87 G33 J25 N21 N85 N96
W1 R6 H2W W1 329 491998
E63 D21 Rm21 N9G 241529

The W1 on the third line indicates white if I am not mistaken..

Opinions??

V02 is 2 tone paint

R6 is scortch red

W1 is alpine white

my guess was a red car with a white painted top.

The problem is your code are either in the wrong order or wrong, the R6 is in the wrong order since the H2W should be there as an interior code. If it is in the wrong order and you have an extra W1, if you shift that line to the left you'll have a Red exterior and white/black interior

It seemed strange to me to, that's why I was asking...but here is a pic of the tag

The tag is laid out properly. As stated above, W1 indicates a white top and R6 a red body. STL coded both the upper and lower colors. A red over red car would be R6 R6. V02 (two tone) cars are certainly not common.

It's currently painted red with black hood stripes which I guess is the V21 Performance hood treatment. I think they were supposed to be flat black though--not sure. The 383 has been replaced with a 440 6pack...everything else matches the tag.

Red with a white painted top and black hood stripes, that's one unusual car! 4 speed, air grabber, tach...that one's a keeper! Pics are definitely in order.

It's not mine yet...still negotiating. Here is a pic

Painted top cars had moulding on the sail panels like vinyl top cars- looks like they filled in the holes and ditched the moulding. 440 emblems on the hood, motor swapped? Looks very nice, good luck negotiating!!

383 swapped to a 440 6pack

Looks like Southern Motors in Clarkston, MI.
That Road Runner looks pretty nice, good luck with your purchase.

how much for the SUPERBIRD in the window?....lol

they are looking for $34K..still negotiating that... I also have a 383 4speed number matching, B5 blue that I am looking at. No air grabber on that one though:( But it does have bucket seats which is a good thing.

They've been around for a long time. I know more people that have sold cars to them, a couple of guys that have sold several cars to them and I can vouch for those cars being legit and either well preserved or nicely restored. As with anybody you are buying a car from that you can't personally look at yourself, hire somebody to look at it for you. You never know what's been done to these cars in the 40+ years.

Now the next question is.....do I buy this one or the 69 Super Bee that I found yesterday??? Both close to the same price and quality....Decisions.....

I saw the video on the web site and when the guy pulls out for the test drive the car blows blue smoke, make sure you check it out thoroughly.
