If you don't have an extinguisher in your machine, get one. Watched a very nice Ford (early 50s) burn at a car show tonight. I have video of it and if i get it posted to you tube i will get a link. Sad day for a couple, they are lucky it didn't happen in the garage

Kind of cruise in/car show in winter haven florida. On my phone and can't get a link to copy. About 200 cars total. Guy just got there and someone told him. Inside and under the hood made alot of smoke.

thats my biggest fear doing all the electrical work on my cars and my buddys car. all it takes is one slip....or being forgetful and in a hurry and this is what happens. even the best make mistakes and your car ends up in a ball of flames.

if your car needs electrical work and you dont know what youre doing.....get someone that does. id hate to see one of our cars end up like this !

there were guys with extinguishers but it was hot enough they didnt do much. with the hood down it didnt get too out of control. alot of smoke.

My dad has a Ford and he was real concerned. My buddy said it was the best Ford picture I have sent him. I am on vacation visiting my parents and mecums auction

Everyone should consider keeping at least one size I (about 5" diameter and 12' tall) in every car they own new or old. Fires almost always start out small at first and usually can be put out easily. That's a shame to lose a nice car. Anyone ever been to an AACA show? The ones I've been to, you have to take your fire ex. out and use it as a tire chuck...not a bad idea.

If you don't want to carry one, at least get your self a bag of marsh mallows to toast while you're watching.

I carry three. One under each seat,one in the trunk. It only takes one close call to become a believer.

I had a small fire incident in my '67 Chevy before I got into Mopars. That car was all original and my dad and I kept it in tip top shape, except didn't really replace any electrical because we didn't see the need or think anything about it. I don't remember ever doing any electrical on it except changing out a battery or the starter or a fuse. One day after I was on my own back in about 2001 I had the car parked in an underground garage at the condo I owned and went out to do it's once a month winter start-up. After it was running a few minutes I popped the hood just to check the belts and the oil and holy cow - I see a small golf ball size smoldering flame on the driver's side near the fire wall. I was able to grab a rag and put it out real quick and shut the car down. Turns out that somehow one of the wires had gotten mixed up with the throttle linkage and it had frayed enough to start the fire. I'm surprised it happened and I didn't notice that before because I had that hood up maintaining things at least a few times a month. I got lucky that it didn't happen while I was driving!
