I'd have to go with a 600 to get timing control correct? Not sure that the customer will upgrade to timing control down the road but it would be nice if the capability was there.
If not using the timing control a stock Mopar dist and ECU will work correct?
Morning,
You will have to upgrade to the 600 for timing control, yes. AND a pro-billet type distributor, Or running a MSD box inline.
These will NOT work with an OEM distributor or box. no, no, no. The only way to possibly make an oe distributor work and to wire in a msd box. and thats just for non-timing control. so thats double redundant IMO, and isn't a 100% success rate.
I cannot stress enough that the 40 year old design chrysler electronics do NOT play well with these. With timing contol, w/o timing control, doesn't matter.
if you Don't need the timing control, do yourself a favor and upgrade to a small cap HEI, or a pro-billet ready to run.
If you want the timing control, #1 you need a phasable rotor, which is only avail on a pro-billet. so that rules out anything oem.
and this can only be done with a small cap pro-billet. Be it a MSD, or one of the MSD-clones i carry. Both accept the 84211 rotor.
this link has all the ignition components for mopars that work with these. B, RB, and SB

I've had too many guys tell me how they were going to be the exception and make OEM mopar electronics work, like a lean burn distributor, or even an aftermarket pertronix or fbo work...only to fail miserably, or blame the unit, and/or end up ordering the CORRECT ignition components at a later date, which alleviates their problems.
believe me, i 100% understand wanting to save money, and use what you have, but my famous saying goes..."You're spending $1500 on this new efi and fuel system...do you really want to jeopardize it working by trying to save $100 on the correct distributor?"
