I recently converted my 318 charger to a 440 and I am wondering if the stock 5/16 fuel line is sufficiant or do I need to upgrade to 3/8 line?

3/8 was standard on 426/440- Id upgrade the pickup / line to be sure I wasnt suffocating my engine or working the pump a bit too hard

I would upgrade to 1/2 aluminum line and be done with it. That way in a couple years when you decide that you want to add some ponies then you will have enough fuel line to feed it.

But if you don't do that then upgrade it to at least the 3/8's line that straw 5/16 will not be enough to feed it.

In my experience 5/16" is just fine for a mild mill. I have 5/16" with a stock pickup on my 440 and the car runs low 13's @ 109 MPH in the quarter. If you HAVE to change the line then go with 3/8" but otherwise save the effort for something else.

Sry dont want to hijack this thread but didnt want a new thread

replacing my fuel lines- 3/8 and 1/4 return
All of my connectors are missing that hold the fuel lines up against the car/ rocker/frame
Where to buy these connectors-

I got my fuel line from The Right Stuff detailing and the line came with the clips. I bet they would have no problem selling you just the clips. I also have the 1/4" return line.

thx meep-10 $ for propper clips better than some jerry rigged do dadds...lol

So, assuming lordofrc decided to change out his 5/16" fuel line and go with the 3/8" how much of a job would this turn out to be? ( How's that for a sly way to get an answer but not look like I'm hijacking a thread)

The fuel line is an easy job, just make sure it's secure in the "s" clips along the side rail.

We still have the stock 5/16 fuel line on my sons 400 Dart. It has run 11.40's @ 117 and still pulling. Ron

Thank you for all the input. I think im gonna put the 3/8 line and call it a day

Good deal. I swapped from a 340 to a 440 a few years ago, and for the first couple years I kept the 5/16" line, but eventually changed it over to the 3/8", but it was not for any performance issues, I just figured I might as well do it.
