Gass Monkey

I don't mind Gas Monkey or Richard at all, but I just hope they don't get their hands on any more Mopars any time soon. That Sweptline could have been really awesome with a 5.7 HEMI in it. Their builds do get a little redundant though as mentioned. I prefer Fantom Works and even Counting Cars over it.

If not for the Arrogant Narcissistic Owner at Fantom Works, I would agree, hell I watch them all anyway...

yeah but he doesn't even hardly ever "clean or let alone paint any mechanical part he installs" on most all of them POS's either, just a pet peeve of mine....
That bugs the hell out of me too. There is no way I could NOT at least thoroughly clean up a part I'm working on, regardless of how crap encrusted the rest of the vehicle is. To me it's a just a matter of having pride in your workmanship. To normal people, it's just proof of OCD.

I forgot to give a thumbs up to a couple another shows I'll watch if I come across it flipping through the channels:
All Girls Garage - For some reason I like watching them work.
Desert Car Kings - I've got a few parts from DVAP on my car. They were nice folks to deal with. It's kind of cool to see them on TV now.
Wayne Carini's mechanic deserves a thumbs up too

Totally agreed. I prefer seeing the classic Mopars either restored, tastefully restomodded, or preserved. There are only a limited number left and it's just a shame to see one hacked up or pimped.

I can't freaking stand that desert valley show, talk about putting lip stick on a pig and pawning it off in auction to make a couple of g's! Those guys did a charger back in 2011 and sold it to a guys who was buying his son his first muscle car, I almost cried when I saw it seeing as how they scraped together all the parts and none of them for that car and made them work it was sickening.

Just a junk dealer who is trying to be a restoration shop as well, I think they need to stick to what they do best hoard and resale junk. The son looks like he is retarded not sure if it's an act for tv or not but my god he talks like his lips are going to fall off and says things that only a moron would say.

I would take the *** monkeys over the desert vally morons any day lmao

I think the guys at Graveyard are the best, not only are they MOPAR guys but they take the time to detail down to the factory original bolt stamping, color or assembly line markings, to me that is a kick *** thing to watch, If I ever do a full resto on my car and have the money I am taking to Oregon to the Graveyard guys~

Main thing I don't like about gyc is the whole "I'm the only guy in the country that can do this stuff" which ain't the case, even here in Oregon there are. My buddy Mike Devee's Muscle Car Alley has done factory correct resto's on some seriously rare cars on par with gyc. A true Hemi Superbird, a "1 of 7" promotional fully-optioned 'Cuda that Chrysler sent around to dealerships back when new, a couple AAR 'Cuda's, and numerous Superbee's, GTX's, Roadrunners, and just about any other Mopar you can think of. He also details the cars down to the level of blackening every factory correct nut and bolt, and all the factory markings. Gyc does great work but they're not the only ones like Mark tends to brag about on tv

And I had to cringe a little at that Desert Car Kings Charger, too. Definitely some crappy work went down on that one. hopefully the guy and his son are still happy with it..

Agreed, more than just GYC for sure, but they are on TV! LMAO You bud needs his own show got a camera?

GYC Welby's Auto Body, does great work from what I've seen on camera, but I've never ever actually seen any of his stuff in person... On another note, I don't know him personally so what I say is, Mark's "character" on GYC sucks, as a leader, owner, friend, comedian {on camera anyway} he's not really a good TV personality & has a face made for radio...LOL... Although he thinks or at-least acts like, he thinks, he's funny as hell or a tough "DUDE" or hard a$$, IMHFO anyway... There are a couple guys over on DC .com forum, that have cars in his shop, right now, an A12 & a Daytona... That say "he's not really like the Jerk, Narcissist or the complete A-Hole TV character", that he plays or comes across as & his work is supposedly very nice & of high quality.... The show is what needs work, get the stupid grab a$$ crap, fake drama, constant plugging of non automotive products, then his "really lame jokes" & maybe they could actually show more of the cars & builds {what most of want to see}, detailed installations, product he's using whether he's being paid for it or not... That would be really nice... But since it's not my show & the network "allegedly" wants all that fake drama & grab a$$ crap... I will just continue to DVR it & fast forward thru all the fake & stupid contrived Drama, BS or Markism's... Like I said before, "I know the only reason, that I even still give it a chance at all, let along record or watch ever still, is only because of brand loyalty to Mopar, it's not him or the show"... It's supposedly filmed, written & produced, all out of his own pocket, so he's 100% responsible for all of it's content, he can't blame the network, even if that's what they wanted... "Supposedly" anyway... That's my personal opinions & I don't expect anyone, to have to agree...

I like the Mopar's on GYC... but like Gas Monkey show much better, especially for content...

Lol no kidding! I still watch gyc for the mopars, but like Bud I just Tevo it and fast forward through the bs

Here's a couple pictures I took of the AAR and Superbird he did (The owner put the torq-thrusts on the 'Cuda)
:eek:ccasion14:

I don't see Torquethrusts on Cuda's very often, but looks good. I watched a few Counting Cars episodes for the first time, I like that Danny guy. The show is fun, but obviously more centered around the interesting stories of the owners/rides, rather than technical. I love that lot of these shows are showing costs. Too bad they all didn't get semi-detailed by stating parts vs. labor, cost of individual large portions of the build, like the motor, trans, suspension, etc.

****, ELVIRA STILL LOOKS HOT! <3

Yeah it's a little too jacked up in the rear imo.. but its because of the wheel/tire width clearing the wheelwell lip, he's having the rear end narrowed so they clear and dropping the back soon. Otherwise I think they're a cool look

Talking about costs, I like how these shows that end up flipping a car at some auction like mecum, barely make any money off the sale price, then "forget" to tell you the percentage the auction people take off the top. Then they say "well we did alright with a small profit" when in reality they're in the hole after paying the auction company lol if I remember right gas monkey was guilty of this once

And hell yeah she does! What a babe :eusa_drool:

Yeah, CountingCars, they're probably making lots of money on other projects, but not the ones they show. The prices do seem fair though. $35k for that custom chopper he built for the blonde chick. $15k to redo that red Jeep for the guy who got ripped off by another shop. $15k to modify and paint the Can-Am trike for the little person. $35k for the totally restored F-100 pickup. Don't remember how much he charged for the Black w/ white stripes C-10 pickup for that kids 16th birthday.

He gave Elvira a cut on labor so the costs stayed below her $10k budget for a complete repaint, new interior, custom trunk interior, and motor overhaul?! That epic legendary cleavage works like hypnosis/aphrodesiac I think. I know it did the same thing to me when I was a kid, lol! (still does actually)

I like Danny's choice of personal driver, PlumCrazy '74 Satty Sebring w/ BB-400. Sold it for $34k to a nice old (rich) couple that flagged them down on the road, heh.

Spank my Monkey - this is just wrong

On a general note a couple days ago I watched Overhaulin Season 6/Episode 8 where they did a very respectful job on a 1964 Fury. The car was basically a survivor and they made a great effort to save as much as possible - including the original 383 engine. Chip Foose seemed to have a real appreciation for the rareness of what he was working on. I think this was the best Overhaulin I've ever seen.

LOL you just don't get it.. Its not a sbc 350 and makes way more power than a 318 or 350 simple as that. Cam and headers and your making what a 440 makes from the factory in 1970. That's what its all about... cheap reliable modern power. That setup can be had for like 1500 from a junkyard with ecu and trans and be ready to run with no work what so ever... no tearing down or even have to unfreeze the motor.
Its quick simple and inexpensive and the be honest the most widely used platforms in bastardized cars.. All that is for a reason... But I get it, some of you would rather walk than drive anything but a mopar...LOL
Your sorely mistaken. Just cause you can rev a motor to make power doesn't mean its faster. LSes make zero torque. I know first hand everyone is running for the LSes and I have done a few swaps personally not to mention I road-raced a Ls powered 4th gen Camaro for a few years. They are cheap junk, but they are ridiculously popular and the richy riches pay big dollars just for the LS in any car. The *** Monkeys do it for profit, period. They know their market very well. That abomination of a Dodge truck would only burnout if he power braked it and it was a one legger to boot. A decent running 318 would stomp that pig into the ground. This is not the place to spout the gospel of the LS. No one cares. Its a fad and a lame one at that. Look around at the mag articles about "big power" LSes and you will see the dyno graph start at 4500. There is a reason for that. Car Craft just ran an article about the easiest 1000 hp ever. Yep it was easy. Lets see... aftermarket block crank rods heads and a 7K blower. Yep easy. lol. for 20K you can have this killer LS yay. Well for 9K you can build a 1000 hp big block Chevy all day long. The Ls is a great mileage motor that is reliable when stock, good for it.

Chevy SBC is a platform, LSx is a platform... there is a huge difference between the two. My LS2, or sbc as you call it makes over 700 hp on 91 octane pump gas.. all motor.

You don't get that out of a sbc 350

This I gotta see. You will be the only one in the world making that kind of power on pump gas. Total BS

457 cubic inches with heads flowing 410+ .... A 427's with the same head made 600 to the wheels its posted online if you want to dig for it I don't have to the time to argue with misinformed people .. no torque? cubic inches are cubic inches ..

Yea power can be made bunch of different ways.. I went the route I did... you cant put a BB in everything and have it look oem or normal or even fit so save your bullshit... This crap is done all day long .. go visit some other forums and see some dyno results and educate yourself.
