Well then I'm pretty much out of ideas on that one. (except for disconnecting the battery for a good while and turning the key to run to drain the power out of the ECM). This should reset it and make it re-learn.
But as far as the fuel pressure thing goes, as long as it has 58 psi at the rail and enough flow to support 350 hp...it should run without issues. I think the pump I am using was rated for 56 psi or something very similar and it runs great. I thought the vette reg was 58 psi as well...but I haven't looked lately.
LX, why is the vette reg a problem? I am curious and want to know for any potential future swaps I may perform. Do you have a favorite combo for a stock engine? I know your car is a whole lot more over the top of a build and I'm sure demands more fuel than a stocker.

I had the Vette reg on my swap (6.1, fast XFI, 727). I was having a rich condition and no matter what was done in the tune it stayed super rich..went thru a couple sets of plugs. Put a in line fuel pressure gauge and the pressure was at 65 psi (should be 58).
Pulled the vette reg off, installed a aeromotive adjustable reg with a return line and built in guage...the pressure was set to 58 psi..afr is perfect now.
I know guys that use the vette reg and it works for them..didn't work for me. At least put a fuel pressure gauge on so u know for sure.

This makes sense to me and sounds like a reason to get rid of the only generic motors product on my car. If that don't cure my surging issue, at least I will have moved a step closer to figuring out what it is. Thank you!

It's worth a try..plus it's nice to have control over fuel pressure..get one with a gauge.
I had a surge early on, it turned out to be in the tune, mine was happening while in gear sitting at a stop light..it would surge to the point of loading the converter..so, I smoothed out the VE fuel table and all is well. But, if u have a oem computer u can't do that stuff. Modern Motors or Hemifever might be able to go in and check the tune out.

For whats its worth, something as important as fuel pressure on an EFI motor is better not left to a cheap part. Buy a good regulator, use a return line. In most cases the original fuel line can be used for the return

I don't have the free time I used to, but I can tune the factory ecm, Fast, Holley, Megasquirt on the gen3 remotely for just about anything you could possibly need. I do stock stuff all the way up to big turbo motors. I am happy to help anyone I can. I am friends with the best hemi tuners all over the place if you need to get your car into someone I can help you there too.

LX, Don't want to be another bother but I am going to install my 03 hemi and 545 in my 68 charger (providing I ever get it out of this truck) I also have an 05 engine and computer. Can I use the 05 computer on my 03? Who would you recommend to have flash it? I see all the posts about fuel pump issues and regulators and return lines. I only found one fuel line on the 03. Where is the regulator for it then.

You can send your 05 computer to Chris at Hotwire for re-flash. He can make your harness also. Or Bouchillon can do both also. Who ever you have do the harness, make sure you tell them you will be using the fly by wire bell crank so they get the harness built correctly. It will make a difference as to whether it hooks up under the dash or under the hood.

Inhave a 5.7 in my super bee and the issue im having is it leans out under load. Wide band reading in the 20's to 1. Cant believe it still has any piston rings left. Its stock except for the 6.1 cam. Holley dominator ecu. Aeromotive regular set to 58. It holds 58 psi under load. Is the 6.1 cam enough to need an injector change? I havent had any time lately to mess with it, but i have 6.1 injectors i want to try. I have a set of hellcat injectors too, but that has to be way too much.i dont even know what the flow rates are for them

I have made almost 500 wheel horsepower on the stock 6.1 injectors. It is not injectors. Most likely its a fuel system issue or a tune issue.

Its definitely the tune. I can mail it when I get home and get my laptop. V3 holley. Stock 5.7 ve tune is what i started with. have a couple of logs too. The max injector duty cycle only reached 29.9%. Under wide open throttle. 5.7 is a tough sob. Anything else would have melted down. Yesterday I only had 15 minutes or so to play with it. I did some work in the idle and low load off idle area and added 30% to te VE table in the high load higher rpm area. Havent driven it yet. I will let you see it

I used the Corvette regulator for my 6.1 "SRT8CUDA" Barracuda project. I'm using the FAST system and I added the optional fuel pressure transducer. It feeds the actual fuel pressure (at the rail) into the FAST box which adjusts the injector duty cycle to automatically compensate if the pressure goes higher or lower than the reference pressure of 58 psi. I'm reading about 55-56 psi at the rail while cruising so it is obvious that the regulator is not always holding at 58psi. I still have some more street tuning to do but I'm getting pretty close I think.
