Have you ever seen a UFO?

Carl Sagan quoted the Drake equation. It says there could be billions of Earth like planets. It depends on what parameters you put in.

You can only come to that conclusion when starting with the false premise there is no God of creation.

Your God can only create one planet at a time? You should have more faith.
You know the answer to that. Earth is the only planet created within the precise parameters to support mankind and the rest of the plant and animal kingdoms. Try reading The Fingerprint of God by Dr. Hugh Ross. You have no idea how extremely unlikely it is for another Earth to exist and for Earth to appear after billions of years all by chance.

Is there a verse in Genesis that says "only one"? I also see that Mr Ross profits by his book so I hardly see this as a Religious example. I doubt there is only one inhabited rock in the universe unless I missed the non-compete in the Bible.

Maybe you can afford a used paperback for $4 without the profits going to the one who did all the work researching and writing the book.

My old salesman used to swear he was abducted. Had to been 25 years ago north woods of Wi. Taken from his deer stand. His gun and pack was still in the stand. He never found his coat.

I don't mean to dash all your hopes but this is the science from an astrophysicist. This is the stuff that is hard to get your brain to comprehend but she does a good job of it.

Or maybe, just let the royalties continue going to King James. Too late, the Bible is Public Domain and free for everyone. I hope nobody takes my "belief should be free for everyone", as an indication of party affiliation or my resistance to people profiting from religion.

Time & distance – to travel faster than light? Was fun to imagine it; but how would a space craft avoid the billions of asteroids, comets, and other **** floating in space, not to forget planets, at warp speed? How the Enterprise survived warp-speed travel w/o crashing into something was amazing. Hmm, and not one episode about it.
Hmm... you don't know very much, do you ? In 1973, they equipped 5 MPH bumpers on all vehicles. :poke:

Let's take what she says in a PURELY scientific level. With all her brains, she assumes one thing, while neglecting another. She assumes life must exist under certain conditions as humans. Why can't there be life forms perfectly happy in very cold or very hot conditions, and based on an element not carbon ? She neglects that in anything, there is a "first". Could it be we are actually the "first" intelligent species to have developed this far ? If it took billions of years for us to get this far, in the vast expanse of time as we know it, why couldn't it take at least a few millions of years for the next species to develop intelligent life ?

Took those tit bumpers off my ’73 Challenger when I got it home…

Even as a child I found it odd that nearly all "professional" discussions about extraterrestrial life assumed carbon based life.

Come on, you folks are supposed to be smart.

You're not making much sense to me.

What's the best argument for or against life on other planets?

Your argument for evolution is flawed. There's no record of intermediate species.

Also, if humans are the first intelligent life forms in the universe to have evolved, how can you explain travelers ftom other worlds?

Gumby is a silicon based life form.

Hello ? {knock, knock} I'm NOT making an argument for evolution. Read my first sentence. Also, I don't explain travelers from another world. I'm pointing out a possible scenario that's neglected in her assumption that there's millions of aliens out there now.

Didn't you just say, "If it took billions of years for us to get this far, in the vast expanse of time as we know it, why couldn't it take at least a few millions of years for the next species to develop intelligent life?"?

Looks like you're saying man evolved.

Please. Read my first line. "Let's take what she says in a PURELY scientific level." Again... I'm NOT making a point about evolution >>> I'm pointing out a flaw in her commentary !

I don't think we've been visited but I wholeheartedly agree with this quote from Jurassic Park. Ian Malcolm: If there's one thing the history of evolution has taught us, it's that life will not be contained. Life breaks free, it expands to new territories, and crashes through barriers painfully, maybe even dangerously, but, uh, well, there it is. LIFE WILL FIND A WAY.
