Hearing aids

I can buy anybodies aids. But I think the technology is owned by 2 or 3 companies. And the people we talk to are just selling thier stuff.

Well, I went for a another hearing test at a real hearing doctor last week & they did confirm that my hearing has gone down hill since they last tested me 8 years ago. They told me that I am a perfect candidate for hearing aids and I now have a consultation with them on 11/7. So stay tuned.

This is pretty interesting...

Man, I need to do a follow up with the V.A ENT dude and get my 10%, been fightin with this since before I retired. All I get is a referral 2X now, but never the appointment. F-in V.A!

Well, I just got my "ear jewelry" today & they are amplifying sound. But, I'll see how they really work when I get home and talk to Submit later on today. If I don't have to keep saying "huh", I guess that means that they work.

thought that I would help you RC with and update of your new aides

Why give up an excuse you didn't hear her. Fake it your still having a little trouble.

Please keep us updated as to how the kind you have work out day to day. I've been told that wanting something like this to work sometimes clouds the first perception.
I'm --deaf-initely in the market for help with my hearing loss.

Just wait until you hear some catastrophic sounding noise and go running to see everyone is ok and all it was is the cabinet door closing! I got laughed at for quite a while over that one.

So far, I've had them in for about 8 hours and they aren't that bad, comfort-wise. When he first installed them and set them up, voices sounded very tinny, but that has toned down. While my ears do itch a bit at times during the day today, I've been able to tolerate it. I was able to turn the treble down and the bass back up on my truck stereo & yes, all the other little sounds in my office seem so much louder now, ie; my footsteps, typing, my office printer printing, phone ringing, etc.

Because all of the little sounds are so much louder now, I can see that happening. Going out to dinner with a couple friends this evening, so we'll see how I do there with some typical restaurant background noise.

I've been warned about the adjustment period from years not hearing well. The brain will have lots of new stuff to deal with (or filter if you will). Distracting sounds will have to be re-understood and put aside in the automatic part of the brain. A re-learning how to hear adjustment?

How many times is she talking in the wrong direction? / or something not really important anyway?!! When you say “huh” they always talk louder/look straight at ya. Just saying.

My son in law is one of those low speakers with a lack of the crisp sounds that words are made of beyond vowels. Volume is one thing but with him, I need to see him speak to understand him.

had a buddy telling me his hearing was like listening to music in mono and then when he got his aids it was like stereo and better I don`t no I have bumble bees in a coffee can sound in both and they are getting louder
