So I looked around for several hours at engine run stands and the ones out there are Chinese
made or 1,600 or so. So I figured I would build an American made one with good ole American
craftsmanship so set out drawing up the plans. It’s almost complete still have to make a drip
pan and mount a battery tray and fuel tank. I have 300 and my time in it as it sits right now.

Wow, VERY cool!

Now, imagine what a fella could do with such talents if he applied them to an old car,
say, a Super Bee or some such? :poke::D

That is some very fine craftsmanship. You could probably sell those for 4 times the money you invested.

Thing I've always wanted to add to a run stand is a way to add a load, not a full blown dyno just a way to put a load on the engine to help seat the rings while breaking in the cam & checking the engine over for leaks...

I've considered using an automatic trans, lock it in two gears so the output is locked, & run the engine against the convertor... Wouldn't do the trans any favors but I have enough cores I wouldn't care...

A fluid coupling drive would be great but one big enough to do the job is $$$$.

I’m still lost trying to post a question other than private messages…..anyway maybe someone can answer my question….D94615SA is stamped on my Carter AVS Four Barrel casting…..I realize D is April and 9 represents 1969…. Can I get by purchasing a carburetor say that is C9 ….A9… just a few examples and still be correct putting this on my 69 383HP Charger Four Speed……

727 motor home trans, with a parking brake on the tailshaft?

@Steven Bowers, go to the home page, click forums, you will find a list. Click on either general mopar discussion, or better, the 68-70 charger forum . Upper right, yellow box, Start new thread.

That little brake would be smoked or on fire in short order... It would be better to lock the trans in first & reverse (What a trans brake does) That absolutely locks the output so all slippage is in the convertor.... You really only need a few 10-15 second WOT (wide open throttle) pulls against a load to help seat the rings... Thing is the rings have a surface coating intended to help with seating the rings, the hone pattern is intended to help seat the rings... If you fire the engine up & break in the cam without loading the rings the coating on the rings will be gone before you get to seating the rings.. Same thing with the crosshatch, yeah you'll still see a crosshatch but the real tooth of the bore finish will be mostly gone... Yeah, the rings will seat some without loading them but the best ring seal is achieved early in the break-in an under load...

I've been planning to build one of those for quite a while but just been too busy. I like how you made the engine mount arms. On mine I figured I use an engine stand head on the tail end so it could be adjusted for any make /model. I also have plans for a collapsable unit which takes up much less space.

Nice work. I would buy one if you ever want to make them and sale them

Sweet, it's nice being able to test a motor prior to install.

I built one 20 years ago, complete with gauges, fuel pump, fuel tank, radiator hanger, etc.. a friend borrowed it and I've yet to put one of my motors on it:mad:

This one comes apart for storage as well and will accommodate any engine combo using an A833 trans. So pretty much any mopar engine short of some real early hemis and maybe slant six but that would only be drilling a couple more holes in the bell plate.

I will be putting my Hemi on it ASAP! I’m working on the control panel right now:thumbsup:

Greatly appreciated…..

Got the control panel done and the gauges in along with voltage regulator and start relay. Also throttle control and electric fan as well as the fabricated fuel cell. Will put the hemi on this coming week and run fuel lines and wire it all up.
