Hoovie Buys an Alleged "Survivor" 1968 Charger R/T

With the lifestyle that boy has put together for he and his, that YT channel of his best keep generating
the revenue it has - but of course, doing the same old shtick will grow old with viewers evntually.
Fancying himself a "personality" now, he's had his turn at a couple TV gigs now. Wonder if that will
fly for long either, since they're entirely built upon his notoriety on YT?

I honestly believe the guy doesn't know a lug wrench from a coffee pot. That's why the Wizard has to fix all of his vehicle problems...and apparently makes some coin doing so.

Such is life. And there are thousands of YT channels to select from that are far more entertaining.

If it's true that the restaurant business isn't close to generating six figures, then yes he'd be screwed without the YouTube channel. I'm not sure I believe it though - I think you said the YT channel bought in half a million/year, but what is that after taxes, paying the Car Wizard, and buying new cars? Are there enough business deductions for the Wizard and the cars to make it pure income? Maybe there are. I recall Hoovie taking out a sizeable loan around the time he bought the Countach and Diablo though, which is not a sign of excessive income. I suppose that indicates the restaurant business might not be as great as I thought after all - I have to admit I haven't given so much thought to Hoovie's Garage before!

I myself would be shitting bricks, and putting out all the fires I could. If the YouTube channel went down and the wife decided to leave him, he'd be in a world of hurt. At this point she could probably get half the YouTube business and the half the restaurant business too.

About the TV shows, how many car shows last, even when they have legit car personalities behind them (Chip Foose, Boyd Coddington)? Between Hoovie, Tavarish, and Ed Bolian; Hoovie was the only one with charisma, but he's far from Jeremy Clarkson. Top Gear wouldn't have ever blown up without Clarkson.

No offense intended to Tavarish or Ed Bolian, but their charisma is only at normal guy level.

funny that you should mention Freddy,as he posted one of the most honest vids ive ever seen last nite.
seems like hes tired of the game, and is almost burned out. " i wasnt happy " " it was stressing me out "
sad part was,out of the 3 of them, freddy was the only one who actually Worked on his own cars.

as far as top gear, clarkson was on that for eons before they formed the trio that really got top gear noticed.
i used to watch him back when he was a reg presenter and had hair lol and did you know that richard used to be an announcer on some wacky tv game show set down in argentina??
foose is a nice guy, coddington was one of the biggest aholes on the planet, and you really need a good strong combo of personalities to have a show succeed, imo.
look at how fast gas monkey hit the skids after he lost Aaron, some people are the Glue that holds everything together.

if Car trek loses Freddy, then thats prolly gonna be the end of that.
i think thatll be a Big loss, because while i never cared about those exotic cars,i did enjoy the challenges and adventures.

Yeah, the only thing I would say against Tavarish is that he's not magnetic TV personality material. On the plus side, he's a better mechanic than I ever plan on being.

Boyd Coddington, geez . . . I didn't watch his show very often, but when I did someone was getting fired for no good reason, or not getting fired when they should have been (IIRC it was Blue Bear Geary in both cases), or Boyd was pissed because his painter dared leave the fiefdom of his noble Lord. I'd only work for Boyd Coddington if it was the last chance to put food in my belly.

YouTube screws YouTube creators again (video starts @30 sec). Jeremy makes an interesting point at the end about being forced to do shorts and livestreams to get channel growth. Has Hoovie done either one?

At 1.48Million subscribers and 400Million views, he doesn't have to.

Can't stand this staged BS, but obviously there's a great demand for that kind of entertainment. Can't blame him for making money with that crap.

Jeremy/The Quartering has 1.45 million subs and he's in "shitting bricks" mode. Granted he is a good example of the kind of guy YouTube doesn't want.

Latest Hoovie YouTube he discusses FBBO grumpy old men hating him. Charger has a 323 rear diff. Maybe he will get overdrive.
Car Wizard is competent and doing a great job.

Now that sounds more like an episode worth watching

Ok so I just watched the blurp about the Charger. First interesting thing was the orig survivor c body oil pan lol.
Next was having to pull the whole center section to check the ratio.
I guess counting the rotations would be too hard????
And then the 4 grand at highway speeds... I would have shifted into 3rd myself.
Anyways, it's just a show about guys that know nothing about cars, for people that know nothing about cars. And that's fine.

Hey, I spotted a guy with a Hoovie tire IRL the other day. Completely bald tire with a chunk missing and a cord showing on the back of an F-150. Be careful out there!

I chewed on him a bit in the comments, couldn't help it. :)

Well first time i've been called a grumpy old man. (Being 28 that happens kinda rarely i guess) :D

I don't know what he means by "screaming" but 3.23 isn't all that steep of a ratio. (Like 4.x would be)
I didn't take mine apart but i suspect its exactly the same ratio and i have no screaming issue with 80mph on the autobahn.
I agree with @RemCharger i would look if there is a transmission problem. (As i already suggested to hoovie when he was still around here.)

That said, installing a Gear Vendors overdrive wont hurt since this car is NOT a survivor. :)

In case hoovie reads this (i suspect he does):
I'm not hating you i just don't like how you bend the truth/facts regarding these mopars in your favor. :)

I refuse to bump up his ratings by watching his stuff. However it does sound like a show about a guy that knows nothing about cars that appeals to kids living at home that know nothing about cars alright.

He's done one thing I like, which is speak out in favor of the 70's/80's cushy ride cars on 14-15" rims. I didn't care for those cars when I was a kid dreaming of Lamborghinis and Ferraris. As an adult - very few want to experience your fast driving skills from the passenger seat, so the ideal garage is a floaty boat for company and a one seat track car for personal driving fun. Or a motorcycle if you don't mind broken bones and death, but I want to live.
