Show me someone who has purchased a running driving E body with decent paint and no rust holes for 20K. Good luck. Heck for that matter an A body.

I bought my '69 GTX 2 years ago for low $20k. Very little rust and ran like a champ 250 miles getting it back home. The lower price was due to the 440 motor (although correct period 68) was not original. Along with trans and other fender tag discrepancies. Thus simular to the subject '73 E-body.

E-bodies are worth more than B-bodies. (Especially 70-71) But a 73 E-body vs a '69 B-body? That's a fair price comparison. (Excluding hemi or 440 -6 pack builds. Then a '73 e-body gets waxed.)

So assuming both '69 GTX and '73 Challenger are same build quality, same body/frame condition, same paint quality and conditions, with simular performance? Which would you pruchase? I say it's a VERY fair and fun debate! (P.'S I would choose my GTX because it's an A-833 4 speed. With new Centerforce clutch vs any auto trans.) But some insist on an auto trans. Again just my opinion. I could be wrong.

And for the record? The street GTX joined my '74 a-body 451 drag build Duster. And my '70 Cuda e-body pro street project. So I have entertained many debates on "Value" of cross model comparisons.

Again, if I was selling a '73 Challenger? My opinion and tactics would be different. First. "Clean it up!"

Potato =70 /71 Challenger and Barracuda taillights, cool as french fries!
Pot-tah-to = 72 to 74 Barracuda taillights looking like a generic Chevy, like crappy tasting instant potatoes.
Pota-toe = 72-74 Challenger taillights looking like a poor selling Ford product of the early seventies, kinda like having to peel thousands of potatoes, that smell like someone's toes!

The later Barracuda twin circle taillights remind me of the 1968 Charger.

Yeah. The slot tailights of 70/71 (I believe) is a far better design. But to each their own.

i like how this car been worked on , i like it the front has been blackened out to look like a 70. i like that it has a 440 in it . just going to give it sometime and see if the seller comes down on price ..im looking at 25k as is no questions asked

That looks like a decent GTX for low $ 20K. You won't see many go for that price. Friend bought a 67 Coronet R/T last year rust free driver quality for $7500. But those are the exception. I went the other way. Bought a late E body. All original panels and floor pans. Been offered $50K for it twice. No need to sell, its the car we wanted.

I would suggest that unless it's a highly or rare optioned 318 rallye car, installing a 440 and even a 1970 grill could increase the value over a stock resto, perhaps significantly.
