I don't want to go to work tomorrow.

After 'enjoying' retirement for 5 months, I can honestly say that if it weren't for the move to Missouri we're about to do, I would have went back to work.
It is nice to be off for a couple of weeks to do things around the house and the garage, but after working most of my life, I miss going in and the challenges related to the programming that I was doing.

Now the good news - after living with a 1 car garage most of my life, we're moving out of this 3rd world Sh*thole they call Illinois and moving to Missouri - into a brand new house with a big 2 car garage.
So definitely going to be busy these next few months with all of the moving chores and then with the setting up the new house and garage - that will keep me busy for awhile and provide some new challenges.
Our current house will go up for sale after we get it cleared out and cleaned up, fix a couple of items.....

Already found out there's a monthly car show held about 20 miles away that usually has over 100 cars show up on average, so looking forward to that.
I know the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, but at least on that side of the fence, they haven't taxed it into oblivion yet like they're doing here.

Time will tell...

Welcome to the show me state!! I live in St. Charles and yes we do like our cars!! JJ's has a monthly show that we go to and yes they have a ton of sweet rides!! I have friends that live in Illinois and the grass is definitely greener here. I've been retired 10 years and I'm not sorry one bit for doing it. You'll get over that feeling of wanting to work, I did and I to loved my job. Life's short, enjoy it!! Hey-O, let the horses run...Ulli

How cute...Doggy was just relaxing!

Sorry, gotta get this in. My current 3 plus month off for medical is a perfect wake up for me. No hurry to retire. Going nucking futz. Can’t wait to get back to work. Linda is a tv nazi and there is lots more.

I agree that sitting in the house while waiting to heal is NOT exciting nor interesting. Being off of work with some money AND a list of FUN things to do is quite another thing!

I never felt "stressed" at work. Then I had a heart attack out of nowhere with no warning signs! That was it for me and fortunately I was in a good enough position to pull the plug. My biggest frustration with being retired is waiting on the wife to realize she too has been retired FOR 10 YEARS!!! She is into some things ( done while I was still working) that are taking her some time to decide what to keep and what to leave so we can spend more time traveling around the country in our RV. The other thing holding us back is family, new grandchild and older parents, ALL requiring some personal attention. It sure is nice being able to do whatever I want with NO pressure to be anywhere else doing something different though.( Except for the family requirement, which is mandatory no matter what).

The only things I actually HAVE to do every day are take my meds, eat, let the livestock out of the barn and the coops. Clean stalls, pick up eggs, put them in cartons and check the mail box. Other than that it's all wide open. I do have a list of construction projects, family car tasks to complete, honey do's, yard work, acreage work, repairs to infrastructure and such. Other than that I can spend time with the Express in the garage or whatever.

You don't need a job you've got one. At your pleasure. Same here except the livestock.

yeah, the animals need me to get up at 0600 daily so they can start their day. So that gets me up and out, and then chores which is exercise and fun with the donkeys and sheep supervising every move. Collecting fresh eggs for breakfast and talking to the girls who like to be petted and held some, getting the ducks out and following them around and seeing where they are trying to make nests and hide their eggs. Brushing donkeys and giving out "paychecks" ( molasses cookies) for jobs well done of cropping grass and being funny 24/7.
