LOL,,, Well explain that to all the cops that let illegals with NO license OR insurance drive away from the accident they just caused
AMEN!! Texas has been a pretty good place to live....or at least in my area is has been. Read below....and looked for ya at the track on Saturday but guess you didn't make it.

I used to get pulled over for excessive noise from exhaust systems on my bikes and cars. It was a catch all category for the cops to hand out a ticket. Funny thing is now those same cops are probably tooling around on their Harleys with straight pipes or a new car or truck with a loud “tuned exhaust”. F’in bullcrap.
Been driving since the mid 70's with straights and got stopped once for no mufflers on a.....wait for it.....a 350 SL Honda LOL. Thing is, the cop car was running with one headlight that night and I focused on that without being 'too' obvious and only got a warning. Was really going to bitch had I got a ticket. Got stopped again in the same year for excessive noise but it was by spinning tires. Cop never said anything about the straight pipe :D And I'm still running straights. My 95 Dakota V6 is the nastiest sounding straight I've ever had but the diesel has been passing inspection without a muffler and without the cat that came on it since 2002. The diesel is a 97 and was surprised when someone told me that it had a cat on it.....

Unfortunately there are uneducated people in every field. An example is this forum where some people think they know the laws but are "sh%$house" lawyers. What happens is similar to OSHA, you have a piece of equipment and no one has been hurt using it. Then one day someone loses a finger. After investigating, it's found that a specific safety practice can prevent it. Now that the company is aware, they are now liable if they allow someone to operate the equipment w/out following the safety practice. I retired 9 yrs ago, my best day was 20 cars towed for no insurance. Some departments haven't been sued and until they have been, will let things slide. But I guarantee that once they've been hit w a couple hundred thousand or a million dollar loss, that will stop.

Bottom line is our man has in hand certification from the state that his car is legal to drive there.
If one contests the HUGE, RIDICULOUS fees charged and takes it to court and presents said documents,
one would hope he'd stand a good chance of seeing some justice out of this.

Might not be a bad idea to carry copies of those documents in the car, either.

I understand what you are saying BUT, the county I live in is large, Harris county TX, they let people with multi felonies on violent charges bond out for $150 & then they kill someone, CRICKETS is all I hear, they do NOTHING about it !!!

Cop: "you're getting towed"

The bail amount and ability to be bailed out of felony charges is up to elected officials, judges n DA's, not cops. Cops collect evidence and arrest. After that, the jail holds them and then follows the rules made by the elected officials. Probably need to take that issue up w the people who voted them in.

If you don't understand this you haven't been around the block too many times.

There are reason we live in Tx... and the sticks!!!
If I drive to the local donut shop in the town of 1500, I am full of it!!

Used to be a target for our local PD back in the day, a bit of it, ok, was deserved. But, once they got you on their list good luck. Cop came up to me in a parking lot one night, where I was shootin da breeze with fellow car guys. He walks around my ’70 Cuda noticing the fog lights saying those are illegal. I replied those are from the factory sir; on this car. Then says what may be legal in one state isn’t in another. I said lemme get this right, Chrysler Corporation puts them on their cars and then ships them across the USA knowing they could be illegal? That ended this chat as he walked away…until the next time I got chit for something else. Lol

Some years back a buddy of mine had 'antique' license plates' on his car and if you had that, you didn't need an inspection sticker but he got stopped several times. He got off in court each time but he got tired of the 'stooopid' cops stopping him so he just went and got it inspected

Not saying what they did is correct, they could have worked it out.
But here is the other side of the story
Usually in early fall there is an unsanctioned tuner car event in OC. They make a general mess doing stupid stuff on the streets, blocking traffic and general mayhem. So the cops have been dealing with this for some time. They just don't want the problems. I get that.
Now can you imagine a bunch of high horsepower muscle cars doing the dumb **** the tuners do?
One tuner even stopped traffic on the bay Bridge and did a 360 burnout on the bridge! He was caught but WTF
So give the cops little break

I can understand the "obstruction of vision" concept and even a citation, but not allowing it to be trailered or be driven away without the hood scoop is just chicken **** by a chest thumping asshole cop.

If you go to court will you be able to recover enough to make it worth the hassle?

Has anyone ever seen the amount of crap that obstructs the view in a police car? Do as I say not as I do gets old

I’d take this photo to court. Blocking the street and intersection? For a running car? Just to make a point to all the car guys on the scene.

where is @HEMI-ITIS ? He got a ticket for no hood at Carlisle. Guess they didn’t care about the equipment rising skyward.
Speaking of photos, the second one appears to be in a different area and the photographer up a story or two. Is that car being delivered to a hotel or something. No straps on the wheels, wrecker in a weird angle. Can't tell wether it's being loaded or unloaded.

The impound lot was behind the Skyebar and someone there took that pic. That's how they towed the car, they didn't even strap it down...
