Indy EZ/440-1, Victor, RPM Perf or Stealth Heads for 440????

IQ52 thanks for the flow #'s & information...

I just ordered a set of Indy EZ heads ported from Nick at Compu-Flow. He was one of the nicest and easiest guy to order parts from and was patient with me a and my limited knowledge of engine components.

Back window says it all.
Nick has always been easy to work with.

I really like the ez head with the maxwedge cnc program.I run them on my stuff. They put my pump gas 440 to a best of 10.77 @123.8mph race weight of 3700#.

At the risk of hijacking the thread, i think we would all be interested in hearing your combo. Sounds like a nice effective build.

I've used the Eddy RPM heads in the past. But then switched to the EZ/440-1 heads with MaxWedge Porting by Dwayne Porter. 13.1 compression, Indy intake and a Dominator carb. Old Ultra Dyne cam .685 lift with 285 duration at .050. Hooker 2 inch headers. I liked the idea of being able to use out if the box headers so the stock location exhaust ports fit into my plan. Race weight of 3775 with me and 1/2 tank of fuel.
Ran my best (so far) yesterday. 9.99@ 133. Was asked by track officials to "slow it down" due to equipment vs rules restrictions.
So in a nut shell I'm please at how the Indy heads perform.:icon_cheers::

congrats on dipping into the 9's

Congrats on the the 9's Actionange1 !
I really like my EZ heads also because they dont need offset rockers and the exh ports are stock location so headers fit fine. I got mine from Dwayne Porter who like Nick is one of the nicest guys I ever worked with. I also had my flat tappet cam speced by Dwayne Porter as I told him I want a cam to work good with my 10.6 comp and pump gas and he speced a cam that works great for me. I can run 38 total on 92 pump with no problems at all. I race mine like I drive it as since I drive it to the track I just want to get there and lower my tire pressure and race. I just wanted my 493 to get me in the 10's thru the full exh on 92 pump and I wanted to keep it simple as the EZ heads do since I dont need offset rockers or special headers and it met my goal with room to spare. Looking for knowledge.

Okay, I know this isn't anything super spectacular, but with the Victors, an Indy single plane and a 1050 Dominator on our 500 ci motor we got 657.6 TQ @ 6000 rpm and 845.6 HP @ 7200 rpm. Ran out of dyno time before the tune was fully worked out. We were running on E85 and it made 680 HP at 12:1 AFR, 760 HP AT 11:1 AFR and the 840 HP @ 10:1 AFR. I think with some more fuel it still had some horsepower in it.

I don't believe your IQ is 52 with the information you provided above. I know it is old info so maybe you have some updates. Can you drive this on E85 on the street? What cam are you running? I have an old Edelbrock STR 14 that I would like to run with a pair of AFB's. Have you seen AFB's on E85? Thanks. I retired a couple of years ago and purchased a '65 Satellite to bring back the memories of my '65 Belvedere II and '65 Satellite I owned in '71. I never had money to make mods back then and now I want to relive the teen dreams I had back then.

So eventually we made 928 HP with that combination. Erson solid roller 280/288 @ .050 and .800/.800 lift. I gave up on E85 because any part of my carburetor that wasn't anodized started to corrode, got this white powder film on it. So I'm thinkn' the AFB's are going to have the same problem.

But yeah, ran it all over on the street with the E85.

I don't build anything anymore that won't run on pump gas. Why bother with race gas........unless you are in class racing where you'd lose out with the loss of compression. Heck, our 451 stroker/Edelbrock RPM heads, made 787 HP on 91 octane. Most 493-505 strokers with mildly ported RPM heads and a street solid roller will make 650HP/650TQ on 91 octane and 10.5:1.

Here is the 500" engine using E85 on the chassis dyno.

Keep in mind that when you make over 600hp you are getting right at the breaking point for an 8 3/4 rear end.
Another $2500 for a DANA....one thing leads to another....lol

Nah...just run real skinny tires, 8 3/4 should live a long time. LOL

just seen on moparts that Nick died this week. very big loss for the mopar community.

Thanks for this post I am at the same point and all the posts will help me to thanks for all members who replyed !!

Yep, just checked on that. That would explain why my email hasn't been returned.

So sad to hear that about Nick. RIP Nick. Ron

I just talked with Mike Ross at B,E and A parts (another really nice guy) and he is located in Medina Ohio where Nick Wilson lived. I have a branch in Medina, Ohio and it is a small close knit community. He told me That Nick had a heart attack while he visited his mother at a nursing home. He was diabetic and had at least one or two kidney transplants so he had health issues before the heart attack.

Well, don't hold it against me but I have a ton of 9" rear ends and every gear ratio from 2.45 to a 5.14. Can I use one of the 9" or do I have to pony up for the DANA? No pun intended but I have shoved my Mach 1's to the corner while I put my '65 Satellite together.
