Jason's 68 coronet build

Couple of questions.
1. Where is a good place to buy big block motor and tranny mounts?
2. Why are my engine wire harness wire colors not correct? At the firewall connection they are right, but at the accessories the wire color does not match the diagram. Everything looks factory. I checked for continuity to make sure I wasn't crazy.
3. How do I test the wiper motor on a variable speed motor?

I couldn't cut my hood.
I hear you. It's a little nerve racking. I'm halfway tempted to hit this car with a ball peen, somewhere it won't be seen, just so I'm the one to put the first ding in it. I guess at the end of the day, I did build it to be driven, and hard!

1. http://www.mitymounts.com/chrysler.htm is where I bought mine based on FBBO members recommendations.
2. Did you buy a M&H harness?

Cool, can't wait to see it on the car.

If the color bothers you keep you eyes open for a coupon for Year One or other retailer selling M&H harnesses.

It will be confusing to a point. But, most of the connectors only go where they should by the length of the wire and type/shape of the connector. It's plug and play. For your level of build I recommend replacing all your wires, eventually. 40 year old wires cause fires.

With this modified engine, I'll probably just make my own harness.

In that case, why not see how far a Painless harness will go without mods. I understand they have some made for the more popular mods. Try calling them and explain what you're trying to do. I bet they can custom make a harness if they don't have what you need.

Ok it's been another week, couple more updates. Tranny is back from the doctor, painted and ready for install. Just need to pick up a flex plate and torque converter. Bench tested the wiper motor, all checks out good. Went ahead and installed wiper motor and wipers. I picked up motor mounts, isolators, and a tranny mount at the swap meet. Disc brake conversion kit is ordered. Once that is installed, motor and tranny are going in.

Tonight's project shooting epoxy on the final pieces. I am hoping to finish painting this weekend, so I can tear down this paint booth. I want my shop back so I can finish assembly on this project.

What are you talking about done painting? That K-Frame, steering linkage and torsion bars need restoring and painting :)

You are correct. I will just hang those outside to paint. The bug population has decreased rapidly with the frost we ha the other night. Surprisingly, the front end components on this car appear to be in good condition.

Can you outline the assembly steps/order that work best for installing the vent window frame, side glass and its tracks for the doors? I wrestled these parts out to get it apart.

Thanks
Jim

I thought the same thing till I really looked hard as I took it apart. I bought all new MOOG steering components. They were worn more than I convinced myself of.
