late model hemi into early b bodies

I'm done doing sheet metal work, so if I screw this up, I wait til next year and buy a rear housing and axles from moser.

I wish there wasn't!!

I'd have fun with it for the summer with smaller tires and then tackle that project during the winter months.

Curses you have no winter. LOL :icon_butt:

Pulling the rearend out on Sunday to get narrowed 1 1/4 on each side. This will give me more room and also give me an alternative to get wider tires down the road if need be.

The cheap alternative would be to pull spark plug wires off until you get rid of that pesky wheel spin.

Damn Rev, why didn't I think of that???

Just hang in there, to shorten the housing should not be to big of a deal. Drop it down, then stick your wheels and tires in there where you want them, then measure ( at least twice....) inside to inside of each wheel.

I didn't get it done, the front bumper took up most of the day. Also my grandpa stopped by, he used to be a mechanic for Chrysler, I think for 30 years. Anyway, he sat in it and said "this brings back memories". He was pretty impressed with how it's turning out and then asked if it had enough power for me. It was nice having 3 generations in the garage, something I will never forget.

The rear comes out Saturday and get dropped off next week. I've decided that an inch off each side will be fine, I'll post before and after measurements,.

Rearend is out and measures 55 inches from flange to flange. Gonna narrow it an inch per side for a new measurement of 53 inches lange to flange. While I was at it, I got the sway bar repainted and attaching hardware, will do some new undercoating in a few spots that I missed, also I didn't need to take off the rear lines as I undid the bump stop and tied the brakes with some bailing wire up and out of the way.

So, not dicking with them brakes anymore?
(Just ribbing ya') Get her done yet?

I should be finished within a month or so.

Brakes are working good Rev, cant wait to finish. Rearend is getting narrow an inch on each side, new rear seat covers on the way, new windshield gets installed next friday, ac hoses get crimped this weekend and installed, new carpet going in also. Things are starting to get hot.

Ac hoses are not done yet, Napa guy gave me some **** of being to busy to crimp them, but said he'll get them done tomorrow. I tell ya that pissed me off, not his comment, heck we all have days like that, but the way his tone and mannerism was, I should have punched him in the throat. Rant over!!!

Got the rearend back today, went from 55 inches to 53 inches flange to flange. Windshield gets installed in the morning, and I'll pick up the ac hoses.

Winshield is in, turns out I had the gasket *** backwards, picked up the ac hoses, and got the rear back together and it's on all fours again. The 1 inch narrower per side is perfect, plenty of room between the springs and also the ouside of the fender well/lip. My buddy took it for a spin around the block, he was duly impressed, but said the sure grip is so frickin' tight that I need to do some figure eights to loosen her up cause it chrips the tires going around corners, oh darn, lol!!

Got some of the trim back on, ac hoses are painted (ends only) and on. I noticed the car sits lower since I had the rear narrowed, wtf!!!! Might have to get new leafs when I can, so these will suffice for now.
