I pulled the heavy 440 and replaced it with a 5.3 ls truck motor, which was a huge improvement on drivability, reliability, and power (surprisingly).
I have a 1970 Camaro I'd like to drop that 440 into
Welcome. I see you're 18 and that's quite an accomplishment for your age. Welcome to the hobby!
Was this a real R/T to begin with?
Also please explain how it "improved" driveability and reliability? I got the exact same car as you, but with its stock 440 and i think it is very drivable and reliable. No need to swap anything for these reasons.
I'm reading this argument of more reliability and driveability over and over again, but i really dont know why those modern engines should be better in this regard?
I can drive my stock 440 charger anywhere and its not hard, difficult or unreliable in any way actually.
That said i dont have a problem putting in a chevy engine in a chrysler car.
But i would have gone ZZ572 if i did.
How did you mated the LS engine to the mopar transmission?
I always thought you were18 too... Or is it 81?I have a 1970 Camaro I'd like to drop that 440 into

I'm about to do the same thing to a 70 duster, 5.3 are easy to come by and CHEAP. Had a pipe dream of a cummins but too big, too much $$$, but would be way cool. and welcome by the way looking forward to seeing your progress.
that would give it the room but how much torque can you pull out of those,i was looking for stupid rast to justify the work.sounds like a 4bt would be perfect, and awesome...
