More proof Toyota's are junk

That's a pretty good description of just how bad *** I am. :)

Interesting... 40 years ago when our Mopars were falling apart after 24 months on the road or 30,000 miles, whichever came first, we were bitching about Detroit's cars being POSs. Now they're the greatest machines that were ever built. Selective memory rules!

Buy American

I am an American from the United States and am very proud of it. I will only buy cars that are from American owned companies. Not from companies based in other countries but assembled here. I don't care how great some folks think they are, those rice burners are not for me. I refuse to ride in one of those out of respect for my Grandfather and all the other Americans that forfeited their lives in a brutal war that has made us a free country to live in and raise our children in. If American workers are not good enough to build me a Chrysler, Ford, or a G.M. automobile then they surely are not capable of building me a quality yota either.

For all you that are going to be offended by these comments I will say to you my 40 year old GTX was built in Canada and is still with us. Show me what your great rice burner looks like when it is 40 years old. I doubt you can find any parts for that clunker. If i ever go to Japan I will have to ride in that junk then, but because of a lot of dead service men and women I don't have to in America. I say THANKS to all the defenders of my rights.

I have many Mopars, Fords, and G.M. cars and trucks but you will not find any yangs in my yard.

If you are offended I am sorry, but that is my opinion. When possible BUY AMERICAN !!!

I agree with you 100 percent. I will only buy American made cars. My father served in WWII and my father-in-law fought in Korea for us to be free and defended this great nation. We just bought used cars for my teens heading off to college, they were both American made and are running great, a Ford Mustang and Pontiac G-6. We should also buy American made products whenever possible instead of made in China crap, teach those red Chinese Communists a lesson or two.

Not sure whay were beating up toyota here, isnt this about our b-bodies we all love? I have always been one to try to support American and local economies but truth is Toyota has made tons of great cars. Just as several others have said on this post,my Toyota 4-runner is over 14 years old and has over 170.000 miles with just basic maintenence and runs great, gets good milage for a 4x4 and is very solid inside and out..My buddies Dodge Durangos and Chevy Tahoes have all fallen apart, get lousy milage, burn oil, leak and they are 5 to 10 years newer than my old Toyota.
This reminds me of the old days when GM guys would harp on about how cheaply the mopars were built compared to their perfect cars, come on really? The trend today with most manufactures of consumable goods be it automobiles, appliances, cameras, stereo equipment etc.. is planned obsolescence. Everything foreign and domestic is cheapened in the manufacturing process so you will have to replace it sooner hence forcing us to buy a new product or pay for their parts to keep the product alive. Love to tell you about how much the Lincoln dealer wanted to fix the air ride suspention on my ex-wifes car, instead of $100 for a couple shocks they wanted over two grand, they are not designed to last or be inexpensive to replace. That why I still own Cars, cameras, stereo equipement built in the 1960s and early 70s components made out of metal instead of plastic and were engineered to some degree to make repairs easy and viable for the common man. Those days unfortunately are a thing of the past.

In response to Clay Dots comments.

The air bags on the rear of my Lincoln Town Car cost me $116.00. I bought them from a place in Florida through ebay, shipping was free. I installed them myself, it took less than 30 minutes. They are lifetime guaranteed. Total cost to make repairs,$116.00. Lincoln is a 1996 and has 111000 miles on it. It cruses at excellent freeway speeds and on a regular basis gets 22.8 mpg. It is a big, safe, powerful, and comfortable car. Most of the miles are from my wife visiting her mom in Ohio. I feel much better knowing if she does happen to be involved in a collision the odds are much better that she will be hit by one of those tin can cars instead of another town car. I went on a wrecker call with a friend that owns a towing service a few years ago. It had involved a toyota 4 door truck and a dodge ram. All three folks in the 4 door were killed. The lady driving the standard ram had a bloody nose from the air-bag deploying in her face but she was basically unhurt. The state trouper said the teenagers were going to fast to make the curve and crossed into the ladies lane, it was gruesome and a very tragic site. I do hope you people that think your little cracker box cars and trucks are so great understand that it is the people you love and care about that are gonna meet my heavy metal rides on our nations highways this season, please try to be safe and try to keep those 4-N tin cans out of my wife's way. Please! lol!

I think every freeway and interstate on ramp should have a sign that says " You Must Yield The Right Of Way To All Domestic American Vehicles" that's is what is going to happen when i an elected President, and I am ganna also issue every registered voter a hand gun. LOL!!!

Well,
As the saying goes....
"Once again I seemed to have created a hornets nest AND put my foot in my mouth...BUT...my Toyotas are good.
Here is the latest:

CAMRY: NIHST (Natl Insurance Highway Safety Test)
America's most popular car fared poorly in a new crash test from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The auto safety group, which is financed by the insurance industry, recently tested a group of new family sedans, including the Camry, Honda Accord and Ford Fusion.

The cars, 18 different models in all, were subjected to a new type of front crash test in which a car, going at 40 miles an hour, strikes a crash barrier with just a small part of the front bumper on the driver's side. It's a tough test, since it concentrates impact forces into a small area. When the IIHS put a group of luxury cars through the same test in August, only two cars out of 11 got top marks.

In the latest test, the two cars that did the worst, earning ratings of "Poor," were the Toyota Camry and the Toyota Prius v hybrid wagon. In the test, the Camry's front wheel was pushed back, bending the passenger compartment footwell inward.

Hey meep_meep

that was a very interesting video, but I really think the odds of hitting an old Chevy these days are pretty slim. Even in that comparison you would need to inspect the actual condition of a fifty year old car. I think fifty years of mother nature would have weakened the '59 from what it was when it was in new condition. Even our Mopars in the '60's got a energy relieving steering column and a group of other safety features.

I'll put it simply this way. You can buy a good car or a piece of **** from any of the auto makers. It's really a crap shoot.

I would not want anyone to think that I think 4-N cars are a piece of crap. I do not think they are either superior or inferior. As free people we can drive what we want, when we want.

You can find pros and cons for every make and model on the market no matter what company produced it. I am thankful to be able to choose.

I can remember when the VW bug was e-con-no box of choice and then it was a Honda. If I would have had two of those Handas I could have had a pretty good pair of roller skates, they were so small and a large guy like me won't fit.

I also think we have ruined the whole import export deal.

I suppose the point I am trying to relay is from what I have been lead to believe is the Swiss people make the best Swiss watches. Unless it is actually built by the Swiss people in their own country then in my opinion it is an imposter or a knock off. If I wanted a car from Japan I would want it to be built by them in their country and then shipped here.

Hey Super-Bee_Ski, i reckon the best way would be to come knock on my door and see if you ain't greeted by a former Marine with still a red neck named Bill that says to you .....

"Hey !, Welcome to my home here in Alabama,"

Would that convince you? If so come see me, but please park your truck out on the road as i do not want my cars to get a virus. LOL just joking you can come up my driveway, but after you leave if one of my rides wont start, I'm gonna blame you. LOL!!!

Thanks for your service to our Country!

I just found this today. I thought it was interesting since we're discussing Toyota. No doubt their quality is indeed slipping.

Yup,
And, Consumer Reports said this about the Honda Accord:
Seems like Honda has allowed the competition to catch up

Ah, not quite but almost....
Gee, in the early 1920s "WE" built the absolute BEST!
They had Allison, Lycoming and Continental SUPERCHARGED aircraft engines!
1. Dusenbergs
2. Cords
3. Lincoln V-16s
4. Pierce Arrows (OMG...)

You get the picture...

Let's not forget the Chrysler workers getting DRUNK and STONED on lunch time and they CAN NOT be fired.
Yeah, I want them building my car
LOL

i think they probably did build your car 40 years ago... :devil1:

You need to take into consideration that the quality of Japanese cars are different depending where they are built, The same can be said for all cars though if the car is built in a bad area the car will be crap, if the car is not built by the people the designed it, it will be not as good. This being said All manufactures make duds. The main thing i like to remember about the different car types is British Cars ALWAYS leak oil, European cars are always overpriced, Japanese car are always complex and American cars rust like there is no tomorrow. I have photos to prove all but the Europe claim this. But ask anyone with a bmw or merc how much a service costs and you see this is true

I have vascillated, admittedly, throughout the years on the car manufacturers. I can say at this moment, I own ALL mopar stuff. A RAM 1500 as my daily driver. By in large there really isn't much difference in my mind between the brands these days. That said, given the choice, I choose to buy American cars. I know, the Ram is mostly made in Mexico...But if I am going to give 30k+ to someone might as well be an American company. And might as well be the one I love the most.

And might as well be the one I love the most.
I think that's the big decider. These vehicles cost enough, and depreciate enough regardless. All of them, regardless of make are such a global mix of parts that IMO it doesn't really matter much.

I hear posts like; "It was built in Flint Michigan or it was built in St Louis, or Windsor, or.... wherever. Thing is; the parts come from all over the globe, and the cars can come from all over the globe. Companies themselves are owned by global interests. Chrysler, GM, Ford... all have major investors from all over the globe.

It isn't what it once was.

Be American, Buy American, Support America.
Or get out.
Toyota brought to you by fine folks who brought you Pearl Harbor. Go ahead drop by and see the oil still coming up from that hallowed grave site.
The first twin towers. We Will Never Forget.
It is shamefull how many have turned away and choose to forget

. But ask anyone with a bmw or merc how much a service costs and you see this is true

I drive a 2003 540 BMW everyday which now has 159,000. I had to replace a intake gasket at around 100,000 cost was $400. I would have repaired it myself if I had known what the problem was. I had a independent shop do that repair. I replaced the water pump at 130,000 miles cost was $130 from the dealer. Easiest water pump I ever changed. Water pump has an o-ring instead of a gasket. Other than an oil changed every 7000 miles which I do myself the car still runs like new. I run the hell out of the car and I have to say I still enjoy the car everyday. This is my third BMW and I'm not going to say they are the best cars but I have had really good luck out of mine. But who knows it may blow up on the way home.
Besides my 70 roadrunner, 66 Plymouth, 72 GTO(my first car I bought in 1979), 80 z28, 67 GTX (project). I own 2 Fords one is a 95 F150 with a 220,000 miles still runs great a 93 mustang cobra which just sets in the garage. My daugther has a 2009 accord, Last summer I purchased my 17 year old son a one owner 94 Z28 my wife drives a 2005 Maxima. I have to say each car has it's strong points and weak points and each are great in their own way and each have problems.
But each one of these cars would hate to meet the bimmer on a road course.
My next purchase will probably be a new dodge hemi ram (I guess I'm helping Fiat). So as you can see as a car guy I love all different brands. It just depends on the car. I don’t care where is was assembled. I don't see the big three being loyal to me why should I be loyal to them
