What is the gun in the blue felt box?

Both of them are First Gen SAA Colt 45's one was manufactured in 1894 the other was in 1904.

My 1st "real" gun as a kid
Ruger 10-22 .22 rimfire rifle

next would be a Remington 870 Pump Shot gun
20 ga for smaller stuff like dove, quail or pheasant
& 12 ga for ducks or geese

Winchester Model 94 30-30, lever-action rifle (I had both the model 92 & 94)
but other calibers are fine too
Marlins copy of it in .44 mag is a nice cheap rifle, great brush gun too

I'm old school still, my preference is a Colt 1911 .45acp

(Sad Sam Colt & John Browning must be turning in their graves, truly sad part is
all the anti-American/anti-gun/anti-2nd Amendment political BS drove them to sell

in can be in many, many different configurations,
I like Stainless versions, they just seem to hold up better in rough situations
& wet conditions, but have had several in different frames & slide materials
you can modify it in so many ways
or the 1911 Ruger in .40ca S&W

or a 1911 Colt Govt. MKIV .45acp 5" (circa 1971)

some of the Kimbers clones are really nice
1911A1 Colt Combat Commander Lightweight is a good carry piece
IMO only drawback in # of rounds, compared to 9mm, 10mm or 40ca.'s
they do have a kick, but I'm used to it

Browning Hi-Power 9mm 4.625" (Fabrique Nationale) or .40 S&W
bunch of different configurations too
never ever fails, sort of old school & still in use

my preference in Revolver
Smith & Wesson L frame .357 686 6" in stainless or 586 in Blue

Smith & Wesson N frame .44 mag 6" model 29 (Dirty Harry)
Ruger GP100 DA Match .357 mag 4" stainless is a nice carry piece

Ruger Redhawk in .44 mag 6" stainless
Colt Python .357 mag 6"

single action Virginian Dragoon .44 mag 6" or 8" barrel
stainless Magna ported, great single action
I carried it strapped to my chest for years as a brush gun in Alaska,
when I had my .270 Winchester as my preferred hunting rifle

AMP Automag .44 necked down .308 cartridge (think Dirty Harry again)
some people hated them, they were sort of ruff as delivered
but a lil' honing, filing & action tuning (especially Magna porting) they are great
expensive round to shoot, it was expensive even in the early 80's

Springfield XD in 9mm is nice

any of the above pistols with a min. of adj. sights & Pachmayer grips

AR-15 for versatility, 556 or .223 is fine with me

there's so many great guns over the years
Colt Army or Navy .45 long Colt, is iconic for damn sure

Henry .45-70 or Golden Boy is a nice iconic piece too

ol' 1874 Sharps .45-70 is no slouch either
earlier versions of the Sharps repeater, helped the Union win the Civil War

there's so damn many I can't pick just 1
I do really like the Colt 1911 varients best, just use to that frame

there really is no wrong answer
other than foreign-made versions

The common denominator for 90% + guns on any list was J.M. Browning. Whether it was manufactured by Colt, Remington, Winchester, etc... if it was designed before 1926 it was probably designed by Browning.
Rotating bolt... how many modern guns use it. Recoil operated. And on and on.
If not for the Browning M-2 the Barrett light 50 would not exist today as it used many M-2 parts in it design and manufacture.

.22 LR rifle is probably my favorite. It's not very powerful but you can kill just about anything with a good stalk and shot placement. Cheap, quiet, accurate, light, and no recoil for you flinchers.

Budnicks...some very fine representations you have there. Now my preference will always be a 45AP 1911 over any other caliber, .38/357 S/W Wheel Gun, and of course...The ever popular Armalite Stoner Platform. Calibers in .223/5.56/45, or .308/762.51 are my preferred with a leaning towards .300 Blackout. My .308 HOWA is my favorite Long Gun for reach out and touch me in .308/7.62 as it was recommended to me by a Retired Spec. Forces MSGT who was also a Sniper for the purpose of a good dependable hunting caliber. I also have a 6.5/50 Jap Arisaka now sporterized which is a blast to shoot and a very good hunting rifle and caliber for that. Other than my Henry 45Long Colt lever action, I like just about everything related to guns, ammo, and their History...cr8crshr/Bill

The second from the left ( short guy) is Ronnie Barrett. He sent me a Christmas card back when I bought my M82. $1500.00 back then when they were legal in California.

You are kidding, right? Working in factories for almost 40 years it's gonna take a lot more than that. I was referring to the popularity of the 870 since its inception in 1950, not recent financial difficulties, buyouts, etc. If you like Mossberg, fine. It doesn't mean everything else is inferior.
