Question regarding the MP clutch fan. I've searched and searched, but haven't found anything definitive regarding this. The MP clutch fan comes with a 5 blade staggered fan and I've been using this setup on my engine for the last 2 years with good cooling results.

I've up'd the power of the 440 and several recent posts got me to thinking, can I transplant the MP clutch to my original Mopar fixed 7 blade fan? Would I gain any benefits with the 7 blade fan over the 5 blade fan?

The radiator is a 26" Glen Ray max cooling radiator with shroud, 180 thermostat, Mancini aluminum water pump and Be Cool coolant.

Theoretically, a 7 blade fan would pull more air (cfm), as far as adding a clutch, typically the clutch fan assembly have a hub that the clutch bolts to, (and clutch bolts to water pump pulley) I'm not sure if your fixed blade fan has that hub so you wouldn't be able to bolt a clutch to it.
youd probably be better off buying a 7 blade clutch fan.

Clutch and non-clutch fans won't inter-change.. Your 5 blade staggered fan is the Viscous fan. Mopar says it their best fan setup. Pulls all the air with less HP and less noise. I've ran them for decades with great success.

Likewise here for the last 2 years with no cooling issues. I guess I'm just overthinking something that hasn't happened yet. Guess I shouldn't fix what isn't broken eh.

Well heck, if you're running the viscous fan why worry? Lol

how are you running the MP viscous fan package with no clearance issues like most? My buddy can't get this setup to fit in his '69 RR.

What is the thickness of your radiator and what is the distance from your rad to fan clutch?

Mancini short shaft water pump? Mancini won't sell you stuff that won't work. No body ever complains about them. Is my guess

Short shaft water pump gets you into pulley alignment issues. Also, every car that came with A/C had a viscose fan and a 3 core radiator with no clearance/fitment issues and no cooling problems, you start changing what works then the trouble starts!

I'm running the MP viscous fan setup, Mancini water pump, and Glen Ray 3 row 26" radiator, perfect fitment and perfect cooling!!!

Thanks! I had never looked at the Glen Ray products before - it's nice to see that they're a licensed Chrysler reproduction manufacturer, BUT man that's a STEEP price-tag - $1200!!!
I'm still confused how this is fitting in your B-body and working well, while others with stock rads and the MP viscous fan package are having problems. My buddy has stock 3 row rad and MP viscous fan package. Hmmmm...maybe a slight difference between the dodge and plymouth or...

Thanks for the info though. You're fortunate yours is working!

I don't get? Use factory spec'd parts and the stuff should work like its supposed to. Maybe I should measure how close the fan is to the radiator, but the fan sticks roughly half way outside the shroud. Also using 180 degree tstat. The Glen Ray radiator is a work of art too!!! Using the Be Cool coolant. Hottest the car runs while sitting in hot traffic is 200 degrees, once it starts moving its back down to 180-190 like a champ. Maybe the Six Pack hood scoop is also letting alot of cooling air in and hot air out.

I am running the Mancini 22'' radiator with their aluminum water pump housing with Milodon high volume water pump a Milodon balanced 180 degree thermostat and a MP viscous fan package from Mancini on my Indy headed 383 in my 68 charger with all the factory pulleys and the factory fan shroud on the radiator they made for me with no clearance issues Mancini was the original direct connection everything I have ever purchased from them has been correct with no issues installing
