My 1967 Belvedere Convertible Plans and Restoration (aka - Mad Scientist Build)

Great weather to get everyone sick as a dog . . . 65 degrees on Sunday, and 25 degrees on Monday . . . rain, possibly changing to freezing rain and sleet ( maybe 3-5 inches of snow ) tonight . . . and back up in the 60's again this weekend . . .

It can't make up it's mind what it wants to do down here . . . getting some shop time, but trying to figure out what to do with the tubs . . . and the rotted wheel flares.

You old bucket mouth, Gezzzz lol :)

Solid Proof nature is a woman........all over the place! Someone go outside and toss some Midol out in the yard, it must be that time of the month.

Cars and Coffee March ( second weekend due to snow predicted first weekend )

Took out ole "Blue" ( the 66 Shoebox ) to "Cars and Coffee" this morning to get a look at the cars that showed up. By the way, with the new electronic ignition dizzy, high output coil, new headers, dropped alternator, and all new front suspension bushings - she's running really well and sounding better than ever ! ! Even got a thumbs up from a guy in a Porsche driving on the road home from the show . . . not bad for an old 4-door unrestored car ! ! ( smile )

Got to share these pics with the group - cars at the show ( missed the Nice Dart that was leaving as I pulled in )

First - Super Bee with a fully operational air grabber . . . ( sorry if my terminology is off - I'm still pretty new to this stuff )

carsandcoffee1.jpg

Side view - so you can really see what it looks like . . .

carsandcoffee2.jpg

The air grabber . . . thanks guys - corrected the ramcharger . . . .

A all original 4-door Coronet . . .

And a bad to the bone Road Runner . . .

Did you happen to really pay attention to the shock towers in that RR, sure looks like they grafted more than just the motor in there (maybe the whole front suspension)? At any rate that is a sweet RR.

I noticed a whole lotta stuff in the front end of that car that didn't look anything like what's in my Belvedere . . . the car has RK Motors tags on it, which is a local place that sells cars, so My guess is that is was at the show to attempt to fond a buyer for the car . . . BOY was it a nice one ! ! ! Ricaro seats, 6 speed ! ! !

( dreams of what I want the Belvedere to be like when I get 'er done . . . )

You were right, that isn't anything like what's supposed to be in there. Those are strut towers and it even looks like all of the new bottles, brakes and even electrical distribution box as well. I would say that's the whole front clip, Very nice indeed

Well . . . Almost what I want it to be . . . you got me on that one ! ! ! ( smile )

The hot rods are starting to show their faces . . .

The neighbor pulled out his hot rod and was testing out the new "top hat" that he added onto his motor - now it is over the top ! ! !

Maybe I need more than just a cam upgrade for the Belvedere ? ? ?

tachtwister1.jpg

Hummmmm . . . I wonder . . . ? ? ? ? ( smile )

Too bad the guy with the Mustang almost got the show cancelled for you guys! I'm sure he felt like a Dumba$$ and the wallet felt that mess up!

I wonder what the price on that RK Motors RR would be! They went a little too far for my liking and those rims aren't quite my taste but I can still appreciate the time and work that went into it and it will make someone happy for sure!

Your neighbour's new "top hat" is over the top to say the least!! hahahaha!!

wow thanks for the pics khan, the super bee is nice and the RR looks freaking stellar. did you get to talk to the owner at all on any info of the car, just curious. this is just mopar info dodge has the ramcharger and plymouth had the airgrabber. there the same thing just different names to keep them seperate. need to see more of the 67. lol

Hey Ron . . . my next door neighbor will actually be selling his house around April . . . moving to Florida - got a really nice 3+ car garage to boot ! ! !

According to the writeup on that 69 Road Runner, it was built by West Coast Customs. They took an '08 Hemi Charger SRT8 and modified the chassis so that it would fit inside the shell of AMD '69 RR skin. There are lots of pics on their site along with a video. The final product is awesome but not $129,900.00 awesome in my book.

See everything here, you might get an idea for your next project. http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/sa...1969-Plymouth-Road-Runner-SRT-8/134680/262417

Moving to Florida is something i always said i would never do, after this winter... its a thought! lol.. Naaa, yesterday we got up to 50 here and sunshine, robins singing even mud out there, i love mud rofl, today back to 30, well 23 now but hold on more good weather coming up! lol I bet your just as happy with the good weather and being able to see the cars and all, its inspiration at its finest, spring fever hitting maybe, oh yea bring the yard work on lol... its WARM, love that smell of fresh cut grass anyway, beats the wood smoke the last 6 months :)

Thanks for the little tease with the car show pics Larry. We have so much snow on the ground yet, I think it will be mid July before it is all gone around here. And by the way, if that Bee has a 4-speed it is exactly what I want for my next car. Just love it.

Back in the shop . . . burning holes in my clothes . . .

Got back into the shop today, and tackled one of the old items that I had seen . . . and never liked. The seat brackets ended up being a little short of connecting to the frame connector, and connecting them to the frame connectors would add additional strength to the seat brackets.

So I has so cut (6) tiny pieces of metal, get them fitted up into the gaps, and get them welded into place . . . Here's what I had . . .
( alright . . . don't make too much fun of my welding . . . ) Here's the gaps I'm talking about . . .

sm_seatbracket1.jpg

And here's the resulting pieces fitted into place and welded . . .

sm_seatbracket2.jpg

Had a little help in the shop today, my "little buddy" Titus . . . and we had to make sure he had the proper eye protection ! ! !

H2E - The Road Runner was absolutely gorgeous - don't recall if I checked the tranny on it. Glad to share them with the group.
Question - Why not upgrade the car to a 5-speed or a 6-speed transmission ? ? Just curious . . . ? ? ?

Glad the shoebox liked the upgrades Khan and thanks for the car show .. before you know it you'll be showing off your new hemi in the khan-vert

I agree with you Prop . . . that's why instead of a "some" Midol tossed in the Yard, I've provided Mother Nature with a whole CASE of Midol ! ! ! As bad as the Winter has been for us down here in the South, you guys up in the North have had nothing short of a BRUTAL Winter . . . I really feel for you guy ! !

Think Warm thoughts and praying that Spring will get here real soon . . . ( oh and all of your snow melts too ! )
