My 1971 Road runner

Charger72, that looks great!
Here's the SEM that I used.

So, continuing on with the Air Grabber, I waited till the next day to put the finishing coats on it.
Here's how it looked before the final coats went on.

Sept 8th (2).jpg

The light coats went on well with a good 45 min. wait time between coats.
I'm okay with the results.
I also decided to try and reposition the assembly to see if applying paint this way would be better.

Is it perfect??? well... no but it's fine for me.
Besides, with the amount of coats of paint that are on it, it'll be just fine.
I want to enjoy driving this car.
The next thing to go on now are the Air Grabber decals that go onto the sides of the door.
Then install it on the hood.
But, in the meantime I got all of the pieces of the clutch / brake pedal assembly ready to be put together.
Sept 13th (1).jpg

Thanks Charger72.
I finally had time to install the pedal assembly, but first I had to install this piece.
Sept 13th (4).jpg

And now the pedal assembly.

Sept 13th (6).jpg
Sept 13th (8).jpg

And the reinforcement piece on the firewall.

I had time this weekend to finally get the Air Grabber setup on the car.
First the Air grabber decals.

Thanks Grabbergreendream.
I almost have all of the bits on the engine and ready to go and get broken in.
In the meantime I started cleaning up the upper window seal trim.
Oct 15 (2).jpg

Now I know when I took them off the car I kept them together.....or so I thought.
I could only find the passenger side.
I don't remember if the drivers side had issues or was already broken, but it's MIA.
I'll have to start to find another one.
Any of you guys know of a drivers side that's for sale?
Anyway, now to get all of the contact glue off of it.

Oct 15 (4).jpg

With some lacquer thinner and a small scraper it came out pretty nice.

After I find a drivers side one and get it cleaned up then its on to buying the rubber seals that go in them.

In the meantime I got the new flywheel down from the attic to put it with the engine once its ready to go and get broken in.
I mention new because it was new when I bought it from my local dealer many moons ago....:D

Nov 1st (3).jpg

Today I had a chance to gather all of my interior panels.
Nov 6th (1).jpg

I didn't realize what a hoarder I am......
Nov 6th (2).jpg

I think I have 3 sets of panels....one that the car came with, one other set of black and a set of white panels.
Nov 6th (3).jpg

I'll have to go thru all of them and pick out the best ones to dye black.

I got both upper window seal trim pieces (since I had to buy one) all cleaned up and primered and painted.
Nov 14th (1).jpg

I tapped all of the mounting holes flat before primer and paint.
Nov 14th (5).jpg

I had to glue on the upper foam seal which I got from Detroit Muscle....I used the black 3M weather-stripping adhesive.
Nov 14th (7).jpg
Nov 14th (8).jpg
Nov 14th (9).jpg

As for the seals themselves, I'm not sure which one goes on which side.
Do any of you guys know?
What does the red dot and green dot represent?
Nov 14th (10).jpg

So, this weekend I had time to do a fit-check of the window seals.
Nov 20th (7).jpg

The seal goes into the track with some effort.
Nov 20th (5).jpg

Looks like some excess will have to be trimmed.
Nov 20th (9).jpg
.
The front of the seals have to be glued into place, so I did that and left the seals like this.
Nov 21st (2).jpg
Nov 21st (3).jpg

Next, I found all of my interior trim pieces. The issue is the previous owner had painted them gloss black, so I have to prep them to either be stripped or try painting over the existing paint.
You know you're a redneck when you wash your parts in the bathtub....
Nov 21st (4).jpg

Yesterday I did the final install of the side window seals.
Nov 28th (1).jpg
Nov 28th (2).jpg

I did glue the seals in place so they will stay in their respective track.
Nov 28th (3).jpg

I found a couple of interior pieces I forgot about. Gotta get them cleaned up.
Nov 28th (4).jpg
Nov 28th (5).jpg

My neighbor suggested to me to use paint stripper to get the gloss black off of the trim pieces.
He gave me a jug of this stuff.
Nov 28th (6).jpg

So I tried it on the small pieces.
Nov 28th (7).jpg
Nov 28th (8).jpg

Seems to be working good so far.

I painted the two small trim pieces - they turned out good.
Dec 15th (2).jpg
Dec 15th (3).jpg

In the meantime I used the paint stripper on the rest of the trim pieces and then used a fiber wheel afterwards.
Dec 14th (2).jpg
Dec 14th (3).jpg

I did the same thing on the A-pillar pieces, but was careful using the fiber wheel on them.
Dec 14th (7).jpg

Next step was to paint all of the trim.
Dec 14th (5).jpg
I resorted to having to bring in the painted pieces to cure inside the house as I have no heat in either one of my garages. Nothing like having a good ol gas stove to cure paint...
Dec 15th (1).jpg

The pieces tuned out great - the SEM 15013 Landau black trim paint did a great job.
Dec 15th (4).jpg

The A-pillars turned out good too.
Dec 18th (1).jpg
Dec 18th (2).jpg
Dec 18th (3).jpg

But, because they are originals - they were white to begin with and the sun has taken it's toll on them.
Dec 18th (4).jpg
Dec 18th (5).jpg

But the cost of re-pop A-pillar pieces is $$$$.
Here are the part numbers....

Thanks ct.
Thanks Scott, it's been quite the project.
It went from this....

S2010336.JPG

To this.....
Sept 18th (16).jpg

With alot of bumps in the road.....

I have a little dilemma - I had bought the 10pc window fuzzies kit from Top Cat.
Dec 19th (7).jpg

Included in it are the 2 pieces that attach to the side window trim piece.
Dec 19th (3).jpg

If you look carefully, the mounting tabs that are located on the curved section are spaced farther apart than the slot locations on the trim piece. The 2 tabs on the straight portion will work along with the tab at the start of the curve, but the last one at the top of the curve - no way.
So I dig out the old rubber piece that I took off the trim piece and compare them.
Dec 19th (8).jpg

See the difference?
Looks to me that the previous owner must have MacGyvered the rubber to fit the trim.
Has anyone else had an issue with this piece?
Looks like I'm gonna have to remove the offending tab and then glue the piece in that area right to the trim piece.
