My 69 Coronet project

Started pre-wiring for the FiTech EFI system. This is the interior side of the grommeted hole for what would have been the manual trans linkage. Repurposed the grommet for both the 1/0 gauge going back to the trunk and for the EFI hand-held wiring.

Ran all the wiring back to the trunk through the driver's side channel.

Going to the alignment shop... found an old school front end shop in downtown Sac - Warren's. Larry Warren is the owner, been around since dirt was invented. He's always got classic cars in his shop. The day we dropped of the Coronet he was replacing the front brakes on a '59 Chrysler.

I didn't know our coronets were supposed to have wire channels. Now I need to find a set of those for my car. It's always something, isn't it?

Can you post a photo of the entire channel? Are they part of the floor pan?

You may want to use updated specs if you have tubular control arms.
Good call Roger, I had Warren dial the alignment in using Rick Ehrenburg's updated specs; bumped the caster up to +3.0* and camber to -.5*. Toe in remained 1/16".

Unfortunately I've already installed the sill plates and didn't take any other pics. However, all Chryslers have the wire channels on both sides of the interior. They start in the front about where the kick panels end and go all the way back to the wheel hump. Your tail light wiring follows the drivers side channel and connects to the dash board behind the kick panel. I used the passenger side channel for the speaker wire runs.

Check out AMD's website, they sell them.

Here is a picture of my car during construction. Check out on the inside of the door. This is a metal panel that protects wires. As Rich said, there is one on each side.

Yeah, I'm still following along Rich. Just been very busy with work and kids. I've said it before, but your car has turned out just awesome. Can't wait to hear the results from your maiden voyage - I will bet you will have a smile on your face.

As the only FBBO member that still hasn't figured out how to post vid, I submit still pics as proof-of-life. Finished the EFI conversion yesterday. The FiTech install was straightforward, very minor issues. I'll detail the install later.
Incredible feeling taking the Coronet out for a spin for the first time in over two years. Drove to the gas station and back, about a 5 mile round trip. The engine didn't stall or bog (haven't jumped on it yet though). Even with the Ultra Flo mufflers the car is LOUD! You can hear it coming a block away, works for me.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I bet you STILL have a shitty grin pasted on your face.

And with it being loud, tell your Chevy neighbors that is to help them hide their Chevy stuff when you get back in the neigborhood! (And please extend to them warm greetings from Hawk & Barry!)

...and for you FBBO folks who may wonder what the heck I am talking about, Rich has a couple of great neighbors. Now they happen to be Chevy guys, but they took a liking to my car and I am sure they will love Rich's. Converting true car guys (and nice guys at that) to Mopar fans is a good thing! Rich is wearing them down!!!

Best of luck Rich for continued good progress with "the little things".

Hawk - it is funny, Randy pokes his head in my garage every chance he gets. As you said, he's raced Chevy's all his life, knows nothing about Mopars (at least nothing good, according to him, lol). But he has taken a liking to the B-bodies. And make no mistake, Randy has helped me out a number of times - including yesterday.

Speaking of, thanks for talking me through the EFI ignition wiring. The install only took a few hours and the engine fired up on the first turn. Well, second turn. First time it turned over but wouldn't fire; no spark. Took several minutes (maybe 20) to find the negative lead from the distributor to the coil fell off while hooking up the tach signal. Operator error....

Awesome. Glad the EFI install went well. I won't count your operator error if you don't count all mine! :realcrazy:

I may consider your system for future upgrades on new cars. One question: Can your system control timing with an appropriate distributor? It seems like a real nice system well worth looking into...

Glad to hear you are able to drive the car again. It sure looks nice.

Now that's a very SWEET looking set of pictures . . . your car moving under it's own power ! ! !

All that I can say is that I'M JEALOUS and I h get to drive the tires off that bad boy SOON ! ! ! Enjoy ! ! !

Wow. What a trip. I've just gone through this entire thread, end to end, in a single sitting. :realcrazy:
I'm left with two impressions:
1. What a GREAT JOB you've done, both with the car AND with your writing/postings. This thread will serve others that come after quite well, methinks.
Congrats!
2. My eyes are shot. Bug-eyed here.

Looks like I can get a set for $90 shipped. Is it possible to have these tacked on after the wires have been run?
Glad to hear you are able to drive the car again. It sure looks nice.
Thanks Roger. To your previous question: tack welding is going to generate some heat so I recommend removing the front and rear seats and pulling back the carpet. And cover up the quarter panel inserts, kick panels and wind lace (or remove all) to protect from sparks.
I'm curious - your Coronet is pretty much done, why are you concerned about the channel cover? Investing in protective wire wrap would be a much easier project.
