My 69 Coronet project

Awesome. Glad the EFI install went well. I won't count your operator error if you don't count all mine! :realcrazy:

I may consider your system for future upgrades on new cars. One question: Can your system control timing with an appropriate distributor? It seems like a real nice system well worth looking into...
Hawk - The coolest thing about FiTech is if the battery is in the engine compartment and you don't care about having the hand held monitor in the interior, the system can be installed with having to penetrate the firewall. And yes, the system can control the timing.

To be honest, if I was to use FiTech to convert the Dart, I don't know if I would use the FCC. It takes up a lot of engine compartment real estate. BUT, its inexpensive and so easy to install and hook up. (Here I go, thinking about my next project already) :lol:

KAHN! Good to hear from you. Yes, I can't even describe how good it feels to drive again. I'm soooooo close to getting it journey-worthy. And I've got Dennis and Darius pinging me to get the car going so we can all cruise. I'm feeling the pressure……………….

Ed, thank you for the kind words. It comes full circle: I wouldn't have had the inspiration nor confidence to complete this resto if it weren't for this site. Prior to my build I did exactly what you did; read other member's restoration threads until I was bleary eyed. Last summer, my wife and I took our inaugural trip to Columbus to attend the Mopar Nats and I got to meet several FBBO members whose threads I had followed. If you are able to glean only a few choice nuggets from my thread, it's the passing of the torch.

Aye...and much like you and others that have done so before us, I'm also trying to make my threads useful for anyone who stumbles upon them in the future.
I'm an older Mopar guy who's gotten a 2nd/3rd/4th shot at living and has returned to the fold after about 30 years. It's a kick seeing what I've forgotten about these cars, but even a bigger kick/shock when I occasionally DO remember something. :)

When I start a thread. they certainly aren't a "look how an expert does this" type deal; they're more of a "lookit what I screwed up/am about to screw up, then figure out how to fix it" sort of situation.
I figure those are easier for those just learning (or leaning again, like me) to ease into.

But threads like YOURS??

a)start this journey (it really is quite a leap of faith!)
b)stick with it as bank accounts and spirits are pushed to the limit (for YEARS, no less)

Nice. This might be something for my Son's 73 Road Runner to help it with fuel economy (along with an overdrive too!).

Thanks Roger. To your previous question: tack welding is going to generate some heat so I recommend removing the front and rear seats and pulling back the carpet. And cover up the quarter panel inserts, kick panels and wind lace (or remove all) to protect from sparks.
I'm curious - your Coronet is pretty much done, why are you concerned about the channel cover? Investing in protective wire wrap would be a much easier project.

I removed the interior and carpet to install sound/heat barrier and run wiring for my stereo and amplifier. I probably should just use some good wire wrap and be done with it.

Since the interior is already out then tacking down the channel cover won't be as big a job. But the soft parts still have to be covered to protect from flying sparks. If you were running a battery cable to the trunk then it would be worth the effort, but for stereo wiring I'm thinking wire wrap....

I'm doing a post on the EFI install under a different thread; I'll link it to this one when I'm done. And thanks for your help on the Lokar install - it went pretty smooth.
