So, I could write a post about all the wiring, installing the dash, blah, blah, blah. Or I can just cut to the chase and post the end result - IT LIVES! It fired up on the 3rd try - no drama. Did find a leak at the fuel pump that has to be corrected, but other than that no issues.

Hawk - notice Randy working the throttle! For a dyed-in-wool Chevy guy he certainly takes an interest in Mopars. It was good having him around - he's forgotten more about putting together engines than I'll ever know.

Great video (I accessed it through Facebook). Tell Randy that Hawk thinks the Mopar looks good on him!

Awesome progress! I remember the shitty grin I had on my face the first time I rumbled up and down the street with mine - took about a week to wipe it off!!!

 Congrats, one more huge stepping stone out of the way. The first startup has got be one of the most exciting and satisfying parts of restoring these old cars.

I am not digging this new site format at all. Can't upload pics; completely locks up my computer and I have to hard re-boot. Maybe the upgrade isn't compatible with Macs. If I can't figure it out my resto page is done; no fun updating with no pics.

That sucks to hear, it works fine on my Windows 10. You might say something to Joey, I know when he first made the change the pics wouldn't show up at all but he was working on one thing at a time to restore all the functions. I hope he gets it fixed because I really want to see it come together.

Coronet Darter is there not 3 tabs in the bottom right of your reply screen "Post Reply" "Upload Photos" and "More Options" ? The pic button isn't where it used to be unless you want to post from a URL

It should look like this:

Hey guys, yes, the three buttons are there. I can "Post Reply" no problem; when I click on either one of the other two I get the spinning wheel of death and then my entire computer locks up. I'll check with Joey.

BTW, got the dash bolted in along with the steering column. Carpet has been cut to size. The EFI has been pre-wired. Gotta get pics over somehow. Can't even post a frowny face anymore...

Figured out how to post emojis. Clicked on the smiley face in the top ribbon.

Still can't post pics :BangHead: :mob: :wtf: :( :bs_flag: :elmer:this new format...

OK, time to get back on track. Gave up on Safari, downloaded Chrome and the pics loaded up in nanoseconds. Time to get everyone caught up. When I left off over a month ago the engine fired up and ran great. Just a few customary first-time leaks: coolant, fuel, transmission, and brake. That just about covers it all. The coolant and fuel leaks were a result of reusing old spring clamps and installing the old-style corbin clamps. The corbin's on the rad hoses would not seal; finally I ditched them for the screw types and problem solved. Kinda dumb actually - there's practically nothing original about the car: different motor, trans, vinyl top. paint, interior, electrical, a/c, etc. etc. And I'm trying to preserve some originality with hose clamps!
So as much as I love the sound of open headers, most likely won't get very far on the street. Found a guy in the area that does mobile exhaust. Comes to your house, loads up the car and brazes right at the curb. So the Coronet backed out of the garage and up onto his lift - first time mobile under its own power for two years. The exhaust is 3" mandrel bent with H pipe. Chrome tips are 3" as well. Mufflers are Dynomax ultra flo's.

I removed all the glass myself but didn't trust myself to reinstall the windshield and backlight so I had a pro come out. He had both glass installed in two hours. Well worth it. Glass makes all the difference - looks like a real car again.

Now to finish up the interior. The wiring is almost done, needed to decide on rear speakers. The package tray has a 6x9 and a 5x7 cutout; I want whatever the design engineers were taking back in the day. Naturally speakers only come in pairs and I wasn't going to buy two pair and burn a couple of speakers. Went with two 5x7's and built a surround out of MDF for the 6x9 hole. IMG_3411.JPG IMG_3412.JPG
Crude - didn't have a jigsaw so the sawzall came to play. Nobody's gonna see it anyway.

Bought a new package tray and insulation. Covered it in black microsuede. Went to JoAnn's Fabrics - $24/yd. Amazon Prime - $4/yd. I try.

Nice progress, she's getting really close. Never heard of a mobile lift or someone doing exhaust on the curb..... pretty slick! Glad to hear you've got the pics resolved, I for one wanted to see this one finished and would have been disappointed if something as small as posting problems kept you from updating us.

Never heard of a mobile exhaust installer either until I unleashed the power of Google. He might be the only one in NorCal. And I've been taking lots us pics, lots more updates to come.
