My 69 Coronet project

Where does the kit mount the A/C unit? I bought a Vintage Air unit (currently installing) and did as mentioned using a driver side fresh air duct on the passenger side. I didn't buy the kit though so I chose to mount mine almost dead center.

CornetDuster, I'm doing the same thing, installing the OEM side vents. Did you put any type of vent in the middle. I have the middle vent but I don't have a AC dash pad. I'd really love to put it in. Does anyone make a repo AC dashpad? Thanks

Nobody re-pops the 69 standard or non-rally dash pads.

You need a A/C standard dash frame to run the center vents like a factory A/C car. If you have the frame then you can buy a pad for it here:

You could just use the center vents that come with the kit that mount under the dash.

I bought used center vents and replaced the deflectors (vanes) with new ones. That was before Classic Auto Air started selling new re-pop center vents.

Am I missing something? The pad in the link is not a AC dash pad.

I have a AC frame that I was going to measure the openings and then cut them in my standard dash. Rather than remove my vin tag and put it on the ac frame. I really don't like the the under dash vents, look to cheesy to me.

Sorry, I fixed it with the right link.

Haven't been on the site for a week, too many things going on. As posted, only used A/C pads are available for the 69's at this time. Classic Air has them for the 1970, but it's completely different with the key integrated into the steering column. I compromised by putting OEM's in the sides and hanging the CA center vents.
Using an a/c dash as a template to modify the std dash is a great plan, should turn out nice.

Going to be MIA again for several days - Maria and I are getting married in about 3 hours. (So what the heck am I doing here?) If she only knew….

Your news is safe with us . . . we'd never rat out a fellow Mopar "addict" ! ! !

Congratulations ! !

So I'm back in action after a couple weeks off. Actually I've been working on the car since the day after the wedding, just haven't had time to post updates.

As for the wedding, it was a blast; a giant par-tay for all. We invited 50 of our closest friends and family, in fact the rule was that Maria and I had to have met all invitees at some time prior to the wedding - no introductions the night of. And over the years there's been cross-pollination between our friends and family so most people knew each other. The DJ, a friend of Maria's, took over the reception and had everyone dancing the entire night. Heck, my 87 year old Mom danced several times. Ironically I don't have one picture to post. Maria posted a few on FB from her camera, but I didn't' have mine and our photographer hasn't sent us proofs yet. So for now you're just going to have to take my word that it happened.

And by now it's fairly obvious that my goal of us driving away from the reception in the Coronet didn't happen. The schedule was on track through the beginning of March but then the wiring slowed me down and wedding prep took over. Plus, the last two weeks of February saw me working on the car every day - Sat and Sun and 2 - 3 hours a night after work during the week. The project was feeling like a job and not a project. So when it was apparent there wasn't enough time I backed off and did what I could when I could. Maria put it best - the car wasn't going to define the wedding day so don't worry about it. And she was right.

So instead she bought this cake topper

Perfect!

Well, now that those festivities are complete, you have 11 days to make the track at Willow Springs or 12 days to make the Malibu cruise!!!!

Congratulations again on your wedding!

Maria was absolutely right, the car being done should not define the wedding - I know I was getting stressed before the trip, but unlike your wedding, my trip couldn't have happened without the car! Sounds like it was the right thing to back off and concentrate on the important wedding activities.

We'll still be here to cheer you on!

Coronet not ready, taking the Dart to Los Angeles?

Thanks Hawk. A lots been done in the past two weeks - have to catch up on my posting.

Dennis, you an Dwayne are breaking my heart lol. The clutch gave up the ghost on the Dart; I still drive it around the neighborhood to keep it lubed but I wouldn't chance a long distance trip. When the Coronet is on the road I'm turning my attention to the Dart.
The new goal is to drive the Coronet to the Mopar Alley show down in your neck of the woods. I've got two months to make it happen.

Congrats Coronet, having met your now wife I can say you did quite well for yourself. Any women that not only allows you to play with cars but also gets involved themselves is a keeper. Enjoy:thumbsup:

Dev - under the new format I can Thank, Agree, or Like. How about all three!

So, I could write a post about all the wiring, installing the dash, blah, blah, blah. Or I can just cut to the chase and post the end result - IT LIVES! It fired up on the 3rd try - no drama. Did find a leak at the fuel pump that has to be corrected, but other than that no issues.

Hawk - notice Randy working the throttle! For a dyed-in-wool Chevy guy he certainly takes an interest in Mopars. It was good having him around - he's forgotten more about putting together engines than I'll ever know.

Sorry about the orientation - hopefully Joey or someone can correct.
