The vintage air kit I used just had a piece of metal that you screw and seal over the hole in the cowl from under the dash.
Maybe some future project will be to make a fiberglass enclosure with doors for fresh air, outside air to blower motor, or recirculate cabin air.

It would be nice to have an option for the blower motor to pull in outside air. Until then there's still the driver's side vent box.

When you call them, talk to Dwight @ x8023. My Dart has a Classic Air system that was installed by the PO. CA doesn't have a DER available for A bodies, at least not for my '68.

Thanks for the compliment. Progress has slowed a bit as we get to the finish line and I don't have an adequate place to paint. In the meantime I'm accumulating new parts and reburbing and refinishing EOM pieces.

Adding to the pile

New Glen-Ray radiator came today. It's a work of art, haven't decided whether to install it in my car or hang it on the wall over the couch. Bob does beautiful work and he's a real pleasure to do business with.






BTW, when checking out their website the posted prices can be intimidating. But those prices are for part numbered cores. The one I got is a "generic" Mopar 26". It will fit perfect and look original, the difference is there's no numbering or date coding on top. When I compared the two major aluminum radiator manufacturers, their base price was much lower but once you added additional cooling rows and auto trans bungs the G-R wound up being a little over $100 more.

I did. Bob spent about 1/2 hour on the phone with me going over not only my application but radiators in general. We went over the differences between copper core and aluminum core radiators. Afterwards I did some more research and in the end called him back and ordered the 3 row max cooling unit.

That's what I had my original rad cored to copper 3 row. I will be installing it before it gets hot out.

I have a Glen-Ray radiator too, and it cools great!

And it fits

Mocked up the new radiator yesterday and it fits perfect. I needed to verify before painting because Mike welded in the new 26" bracket without having a radiator for measuring the mounting hole width. He duplicated the mounting position of the original bracket on the inner fender and nailed it.



And I got good news on where to final paint. My neighbor's friend owns a body shop and is willing to rent his booth out on a weekend that he's not busy. I'll have to be ready on a couple day's notice to bring the car over. it's a huge relief because I had run out of options as far finding a place that Mike could spray. I could always find a shop to do the final paint but I felt like I owed Mike the opportunity since he did a fantastic job on the bodywork and prep.

I've finally picked a color

For me the hardest decision to make was what color to paint the car. It was originally T7 Metallic Bronze which along with T5 are two OEM colors that I really like. But in the end Maria and I decided we wanted to punch up the color a little. From the start I've been taken by the Dupont Hot Hues Copper Sunset on a '68 Charger pictured in Hunt 2 Elk's resto thread. Checked around the local paint shops and beside being a little pricey it's almost unobtainable in CA so the search centered more on OEM colors.
In the end I went with 2011 Chrysler Toxic Orange, also called Mango Tango. The paint code cross references to both colors. The TO definitely punches up the color scheme and - no surprise - orange is Maria's favorite color. Yeah, Maria had a large say in the matter. But I really like the color too and I think its going to compliment the black vinyl roof and a matte black R/T stripe across the rear. Add in anthracite gray Torque Thrusts and it's going to be a sharp combo.

I saw a Corvette with that color. It was about a 2013 YOM. It really dazzled on a sunny day.
