My 72 charger project

Decided to make use of the new lift my uncle has and do some touch ups to the underside of the car. Much easier to spray it up in the air compared to on your back!:icon_tongue: Gotta replace the tranny mount bushing as well while its in the air and if we can figure out why it wont engaged third fix that as well!

Current project within a project

Decided it was time for a 8 3/4 rear end to go into the car. The original 8 1/4 we never did anything to besides change the axle seals and in the process i think i messed up the backlash :iamwithstupid: so I scored a complete housing and 742 case off of my uncle supposedly out of a 73 imperial. All that we thought would have to be done is weld in some thick steel or washers into the spring perch mounts as they had the later style. Did that got a new clutch type re-pop center section new ring and pinion 3.55 gear ratio all new bearings the whole shebang. Then the headaches started. I went to get the brake parts needed to rebuild the drums. Well it turns out that Chrysler made one car with 3" brakes, and it so happened to be the imperial. No problem right? Wrong they don't make drums for them anymore... Ok so no problem I just decided id convert it to 2.5inch brakes scored some backing plates already blasted and panted for 20 for the pair. Got all new brake hardware and drums went to put the drums on...and boom of course once again the only car Chrysler made with a 5 x 5" bolt pattern is the IMPERIAL. So after countless searching I decided it wasn't worth the headache trying to find drums to git on the axles i had. Called upon my uncle again got a new housing new axles re-cleaned them repainted re fabbed the spring perches. Installed the new posi unit in the case had it all set correctly and finally got it all put together just waiting to put the axles back into the housing. Whats the proper weight gear oil for this rear-end? I know you have to put limited slip additive in the oil.20130323_164541.jpg20130323_164535.jpg20130209_193304.jpg20130210_170513.jpg20130208_154854.jpgCgosms_2013-03-0905-47-37.jpg20130329_174314.jpg20130329_174354.jpg20130329_190629.jpg20130329_174322.jpg
